I saw DJ had a tweet recently that last year he had 12 defensive tackles as eventual starters. This year he has 24. I'd love for them to trade down and make signing Baun a priority. I dont expect Milton or Sweat back, though regardless they should be very good defensively. Nolan Smith is turning into a heat seeking missile and Hunt/Davis/Ojomo all came up large these playoffs.

It’s impressive how a couple games can completely change a narrative. That Rams game was sloppy, lots of mistakes were made, and it probably came down to Carter making a play. If he doesn’t get Stafford, good chance the Eagles lose. The NFCCG and SB completely defined this team’s legacy and it almost didn’t happen

There are very few Super Bowl winners where you can go back and look at where they didn't play a close game decided by a couple plays. Probably have to go back to the 90s where that wasn't the case. Jalen made that key 3rd down stop amd the cruises from there.

See, I view your post here as trying to take 1 game and shift a narrative (for the worse).

The Eagles ended the season as the #1 defense (which imposed its will against WSH and KC in the playoffs...which was a common theme this season). That was the story of this team's defense post Week 4, basically. #2 seed in the NFC - and rightly so. No stumbling into the playoffs happened. Went in as dawgs.

1 playoff game against McVey & Stafford in the snow isn't going to make me think we were anything less than deserved champions.

Anyway, eff this noise. WE CHAMPS, BABY.

No, I’m not trying to shift it for the worse. This was a great team whether or not they beat the Rams. I bet the fans and the media would be calling for heads though. Most champs in all sports face adversity and it comes down to who makes a play. A very small amount of plays or time can have a huge impact on perception. The Eagles almost fell apart there yet they still ended up champs in dominant fashion. This can probably be extended to all sports. If the Phillies got a few key hits with runners on base against the Mets maybe the escape that series then get hot.

If anything I think it makes the Eagles look better. They came through when things were darkest and we all know what opinion would be if the Eagles lost that game. They dug in when it mattered most and showed heart. Sports would be boring without drama anyway. Crazy to think that that maybe we are maybe 2 plays away (Julio Jones 4th down, Carter sack) from still being a Super Bowl-less franchise. I’m sure the opposite has happened with some Philadelphia teams where they could have been champions but things didn’t break their way. The margin is small and it’s tough to be champions.

I think the strength of the draft is on the DL this year. So in theory if you were to lose Williams & Sweat you should have good options with their first two picks there.
The draft is really deep everywhere but QB and CB.

But yeah, especially at DL. I enjoy playing with mock simulators, constantly getting good value into the 3rd.

They invited 40 IDL to the combine this year. The yearly average is 25 lol.

Nike doing a hell of a job.

Howie punching his ticket on a hall of fame?

No other GM has ever had the level of turnover between winning Super Bowl teams separated by 8 seasons or less

New coach, new QB, new pretty much everything.

Lane Johnson, Brandon Graham, Jake Elliot, and Rick Lovato(the long snapper)

That's it between the two teams.

The player who asked (and received) Chris Long's coat from the last parade is revealed. Sweat missed out on the 2018 Super Bowl as he was drafted in 2018. He did play with Long in his rookie year and I guess the image from the parade stuck with him lol

Sure, he’ll end up a HoF contender, but the rest of it no. Doing it in less seasons is a function of the era. You can’t compare rebuilding an entire org in 2001 or 1988 to doing it now.

Bobby Beathard won Super Bowls 15 years apart. Ozzie Newsome won 12 years apart. Both were significantly harder eras to build a team and then had higher bars to reach the true contenders. Beathard in particular had an impossibly difficult job.

Made it down to Philly to watch the game and celebrate so I'm happy to watch the parade from my couch.

But if they Flyers ever win one, I think I've gotta be there. Unfortunately I'm not sure it ever happens.
