Eagles probably could have kneed every play on offense when it was 34-0. That would take up 2 minutes on offense at a time. Chiefs needed 5 TDs. So as long as they weren’t scoring in 30 seconds and/or recovering onsides kicks, ot was probably a feasible strategy. Imagine the disrespect kneeling vs the chiefs in the late 3rd/ early 4th quarter lol

In fangio’s scheme, you don’t need elite S. You can draft one high but unlikely to keep the player past their rookie deal.

If Howie sees someone he likes he doesn’t sit and hope he falls. Going to move up to get the player he wants. Same goes the other way. If he doesn’t like what is on the board he’s more than willing to move down.

Drafting a Safety high has all sorts of problems like contract value as you’re saying, but why do you say that his scheme de-prioritizes Safety play?

Vic casually waxing the Chiefs in his Sunday sweats is a beauty.

JC choosing violence over complaining about consistently being held was also beautiful. He slapped Mahomes and one arm tossed a guard all in one motion.

One of the things I noticed - especially when it was 34 - 0, is that not only were the Eagles running down the play clock to 0:02 or 0:01 before snapping the ball, they did not seem to exhibit any urgency when handing off to Saquon in the third or fourth quarters. They appeared to be happy just having him slam into the line, not twist or hyper-extend anything, and were perfectly good with a two- or three-yard gain, not as a set-up, but for its own means. Running the clock after it was 34 - 0, even in the third quarter, seemed to be the prime directive rather than amassing more points. The Chiefs "holding Barkley" to low rushing yardage, seemed to be part of a "strategy" by the Eagles at that point more than being an achievement by the Chiefs.

They did this all year long. Just sticking with the run so opponents have to key on it. Also wears the F out of defenses.

There are times we drifted away from running and usually it put us behind on downs.

Once it got to 27-0 after that 7 minute drive to get the FG, there was like 21 minutes with KC needing 4 scores. As long as you don't have an incomplete pass, each possession by PHI would eat 2 minutes off the clock. Any first down would eat at least 3-4 minutes depending on the down they convert a first down on. On that FG drive to go up 27-0, they did snap the ball like 3-4 times with anywhere from 9-13 seconds left on the clock.

Reich would be a good hire. He is now 63. Had 2 HC jobs. Probably not someone teams will give another opportunity to. So, you wouldn't worry about him getting plucked like what has happened to Detroit losing Johnson/Glenn or what happened to themselves with Steichen/Gannon. KC has run with Reid as the defacto OC and Spags as DC for many years now.

It's also very impressive in how the Eagles have drafted and how Howie has moved around picks. Wentz trade kicked things off, plus the NO trade to land Carter and getting that extra 2nd this past year to move up with Wash for Dejean.

I just want someone with play calling experience. I mean roll the dice if you want, but we have too much talent to be learning on the job.

On think about Reich is he had his hands in remapping the 2017 offense to fit Foles more in that run. Adaptability is good.

My point was that the Eagles appeared to be just sending Barkley into the line not necessarily to make big gains (although I am sure they'd take it), but more as a way to simply drain the clock at that point (up 34-0). Let's face it - with the defense shutting down Kansas City and the Chiefs needing five scores to surge ahead, more points weren't going to be as valuable as fewer minutes and seconds on the clock. Media and other analysts chalked it up to the Chiefs "shutting down" Barkley, when it didn't seem the Eagles cared that much - their goal appeared to be to simply run him into the line to burn time, starting when they went up 34-0.

You're probably not going to get a coach or player to admit as much, especially in the 3rd quarter, but I can't imagine it wasn't on their minds.

Amazing to follow how the trade tree from the Wentz deal helped Philly build their roster. Using the Indy 1st along with their own to maneuver in 2022 to draft Davis at DT and then take the 2023 1st and 2024 second from NO to get them Carter, plus then using the NO 2nd and their own to trade up with Wash to draft Dejean.

Not scheme related, just something funny I noticed watching a defensive breakdown video. On the Sweat sack around 13:30 in the 3rd, Jalyx Hunt almost DESTROYED a ref with a celebratory fist swing. Guy would have been out cold. Hard to tell how close he was but the ref definitely stared him down afterward

Last video for Hurts this season. In media, this season has been very divided opinion wise on Hurts. JT's videos are a must watch to get away from all the noise. He gives players their flowers when they do well and criticizes the player as well as the scheme when it's warranted. My frustrations with Jalen went down immensely after watching his videos this season, and now he's a super bowl champ!

I was still nervous about the game until Hurts hit Smith for the Killshot. At that point, 3 mins left in the 3rd with a 5 score lead? That's to me when it sunk in that we were going to win the Super Bowl. Poured myself another beer and the rest of the night was a blur.

I also love that we put in the backups for the majority of the 4th. KC did a lot of talking the last couple years and we had Kenny fn Pickett running out the clock. Just pings the disrespect meter off the charts and I loved every second of it.
