Other Sports: Philadelphia Eagles (NFL): THIS IS BRAZIL - Super Bowl LIX Champions

That's fine, as long as it doesn't help them along to 3 TD drives in the first half

We are not putting that out into the universe.

We have a house full of people coming and I cannot possibly handle small talk or someone telling me X sucks because Mahomes did an entire floor routine while completing a 17 yard Pass on 3rd and 11. No phone. No computer. Nothing. I’m locking myself in my office with headphones at Kickoff and not making a single sound for however long this torture lasts. This was the compromise with my wife.

The bend don't break philosophy is great except, except Mahomes has a better chance at breaking you.

That said, this defense handled Lamar and Daniels x3. Well, 2.5x, but they were injured/ejected for that 0.5

I should be there around 5:45. I've got hot garlic parmesan wings.

So you literally aren't going to watch with the people coming over to your house? That sounds very counter intuitive.

No, this is a healthy, functioning relationship.

My wife wanted to invite a bunch of her friends over. I am not a social sports watcher AT ALL and she has no desire to ruin the experience of an Eagles SB for me. I bought everyone very nice liquor and beer plus champagne for if they somehow win. I’m helping prep and cook all day. I picked up flowers for my wife this morning. I will be perfectly nice and charming to everyone as I always try to be. I will make sure I say hello to everyone and be self-deprecating about how I have to lock myself in the office. When the game is over, I will return to hosting and helping in any way that I can.

Front and center, @JojoTheWhale

I thought maybe the picture was messed up, but I just saw that Super Bowl lettering on ESPN. What in the world is going on? Why are some of the letters elongated? I hate it.

This is exactly what I would do, but I wouldn't invite them over in the first place. As soon as the Eagle beat the Commanders my dad called me and asked if I wanted to have a Super Bowl Party at our beach house and I said, "Immediately, no. Hard pass." I'm not a fan of hanging out with larger groups of people in the first place, but I lost all hearing in my right ear when I had my benign brain tumor removed and I have a hard time comprehending things when there are multiple sources of sound at once. I was only able to pick out 2% of words correctly on the test they had me do with "restaurant" level "chatter", so the Birds in the Super Bowl is definitely a solo event for me.

I feel it. But I would feel stupid guilty and tank the social time.

Very nervous today.

News about Kellen taking that job dropping LAST NIGHT certainly didn't help anything. Just feels wrong & I don't need that today.

But then I remind myself that this game is rightly a tight betting line. The Chiefs are forreal. The Eagles are forreal.

We can win this f***ing thing

See, this is how it's always been for me. I have an incredibly hard time watching the Eagles with other people (stadium not included). If anyone called or stopped by during the game, the Eagles always seemed to lose. My Pop used to make fun of me about it until he witnessed the "curse" in action when he called a few times during Eagles games over a brief stretch of time. It got to the point he would call me after an Eagles loss and ask who interrupted my viewing.

I almost never lose my temper, except when it comes to the Birds. In college, I punched a hole in the wall when the Eagles let up a (very) late TD to the Chargers to break the shutout (Eagles won handily). Another time, a buddy of mine in college had a TV, but was not really an American sports fan (he was from Peru) and let me watch the Eagles-Falcons game on his shitty B&W TV. He was out and about, popping in every now and again to check on the game. Every time he opened the door, something negative would happen to the Eagles. I actually yelled at him to never interrupt me again when I'm watching the Eagles (yes, I know it was his house and he was doing me a favor). He had a good humor about him, so he wasn't offended. He said, "Let me know when it's over." Two minutes later, Jaworski hit Quick for a 99-yard TD in overtime to win the game.

Why the preamble above? I was invited to another Super Bowl game today, with much food, drink, and eye candy, and I am seriously considering inventing an illness so I can stay home and watch without any grief.

I will feel very guilty for about 20 minutes before and run around making sure everyone has whatever they could possibly want. I will then forget they're even here until Halftime. :)
I watched with people in 2004 and 2022. I bailed on get togethers and watched in the basement in 2018. I'm doing that this year. Take from that what you will.

I'm watching with mom and dad and an improving sore throat that isn't covid or the flu.

I've always been a "watch with my family and/or friends to share the winning moment if they win" type of person.

I'll never be a "watch at a bar" type of person. One of my friends is going into Philly today...unless I have a friend living there that I'd go to, you'll never catch me doing that

You could argue that if the Eagles win today it would prove you don’t need a top (or even good) QB to win a Super Bowl and completely change the drafting/scouting world forever.

Doing it once could be a fluke, doing it twice in a relatively short amount of time is proof beyond all doubt and legally binding.

My parents are in town and want to watch with me , buddy owns a restaurant and has a private party I’m invited too, other buddy is massive fan and wants to get together, I need to watch alone. Sounds foolish, but just how I cope lol.

Watched the win alone, watched the last loss at a Super Bowl party in Vegas , but just need to be an unreasonable fool by myself.

If/When the flyers ever get back to Stanley Cup Finals, clinching game I will need to watch alone. I will not be around anyone.

I know...a man can dream.

My fiance is from Germany. Never cared about football. Today she’s wearing a jersey, decorated the entire house, invited 30 people over, watched 52 highlights.

As the kids say “the vibes are impeccable.”

God speed, everyone. Let’s hope tonight I type up a sentence that doesn’t make sense because I’m champagne drunk

I wanted to watch with my dad in 2018. He would have loved to see them win. But I didn't have what I needed to watch a stream graveside.

I'm not avoiding other people's fandom. I just feel trapped at social gatherings. And something like a SB party I can't easily leave.
