Five turnovers, zero run game for DC.

Now that the game is fading into the past and all I have left are numbers I'm already forgetting how the result could come to be because it doesn't add up

The Eagles had multiple coverage busts that ended up in long TDs. So much of the Fangio defense depends upon Safeties (and DBs in general) communicating with each other. That goes for most two high shells. As the injuries and ejection mounted up, so did the coverage busts. It's completely expected. It's also part of why they started slow defensively. That communication takes real time and reps to develop.

1000% should have won with the TOs. But...I'm sure the game plan changes with Pickett. Delayed Qb runs were open all game, should have called some.
It’s frustrating but this is a different game if Hurts and CJGJ are in there probably. I’m usually lenient on refs as I think it all balances out more or less in the end but they were atrocious today and hurt us. Pickett isn’t a QB that will win many games on any team in the league today

Eagles can still get the bye by winning next week and resting their starters in Week 18.

I'm still extremely pissed about today. Biggest BS game in a long time. And that BS came from a lot of different directions.

They were, atrocious.

The Comrades are not garbage though.

I'm not happy about seeing them again in a month. I think that's the worst part about today. Them winning basically ensures we don't get Seattle/Atl.

Uh, the Eagles cannot do that. Only one team gets a bye.

If the Vikings win today, I’m pretty sure the Eagles can’t catch either they or the Lions (whoever wins NFC North).

2 games lost on literal game clinching catches dropped. One of them with 42 minutes of Kenny Pickett lol.

I saw them pick up that flag. Nothing more Eagles than that lol

All in all if you told us Pickett was going to basically play the whole game and we’d have multiple injuries, ejections, and we’d be hurt by poor reffing yet it would come down to Washington scoring in the waning seconds to come from behind and win, we’d be okay with how things turned out. It was an ugly and frustrating game in many ways but I’d rather lose in this fashion than almost any other way

I wasn't talking about the literal bye. I meant they can create their own virtual bye by resting their starters in Week 18. The #1 seed is practically gone after today.

Yuuuuuuuuup.

If I were you people I wouldn't fault the staff for not having an entire second game plan for Pickett though. The original plan was clearly great. DC was being vivisected. What remained for offensive options with Pickett happened to play ideally to what DC has done against weaker QBs for weeks, but which Hurts was shredding like Lamar did. I doubt Whitt even changed very much on the DC end. Weird game nobody sane or reasonable would have predicted

It was...already gone, functionally. Its 100% gone now.

I'm sure they do have a plan, that doesn't get practiced much.

As weak as DC is in pass coverage, they've gotten a lot more effective because Whitt just deletes any plays where guys struggle to communicate more than a couple times. He evidently has no interest in sinking that much effort into reads that aren't coming naturally; they keep and try to perfect what they do well. It has worked. Simpler D with fewer looks that actually works is better than complex D where people are confused.

I watched Haslett run the latter and hope to never see the like again
