Really only makes sense if CJGJ is really that big of an issue internally or wanted a big, new deal.

I'll say I can imagine CJGJ, a guy with a massive ego and loves to talk crap, I'm sure giving him a ring only makes it worse of an ego to handle. If he decided to ask for more cash already, then that makes sense. Add in the Slay "Reed's the leader back there" stuff...yeahhhhh

If Fangio was cool with dumping him, I'm cool with it.

I'm not the biggest CJGJ guy, but how many times did they say they missed his attitude in 2023 and he was a big part of the 2024 turnaround, to now move off him again? That feels weird

Odd move but if Stoutland is confident he can fix him then I'm good with it. CJGJ presumably is agitating for a contract. Meanwhile they are committing to a youth movement in the secondary. Guess that and D line is where most of the draft is going. Would take a tackle too.

Is the secondary really in that bad of shape? You still have:
A premier outside CB
The best slot CB in the league and he’s barely old enough to buy a beer
A quality starting safety.

If they feel that Ringo and Brown are ready to start, then I trust in Fangio. Do I like today’s trade? Honestly, not sure. But, if there is anyone on planet earth that can fix an offensive lineman, his name is Stoutland.

I'm not surprised at all at this one. Chauncey was one of my guys going back to Florida, but he's slowing down. Green is just a flyer. They upgraded a pick and got out of the contract. I would guess he's less likely to start than Steen.

They need a faster Safety back there if Blankenship is going to be the other guy. The second your DBs as a group get slow, you're cooked. This is why I wanted Emmanwori all year, but I have zero interest in taking him top 20 even if he was higher than that for me well before the Combine. It's still a very good but not great Safety. Now Starks at 32? Hell yes I would be in. I've seen some incredibly weird takes about how Fangio doesn't need good Safety play. That specific role CJGJ played is where stars are created. That's a playmaking position. Think Justin Simmons and Eddie Jackson.

Combine this with the Goedert rumors and I think people will understand more. They're reloading. The roster is going to flip.

Well, the only way this one makes sense to me is purely "trust Howie". Otherwise, I really don't like this one.
I think that at this point Howie (and Stoutland) have earned the benefit of the doubt. He's not infallible but I definitely am not going to question him, and even if this is a swing and miss I'm ok with it. Swinging and missing when you have two rings, three SB appearances, and countless home runs is ok with me.

I think you could be right here. And I would be for it tbh. But then I would hope they add a vet later in the summer. Just a warm body who didn’t find a big market. You need 3.
I'd totally forgot they picked up Lewis Cine as well. Guy may not be all that good at the NFL level, but he is another former 1st round pick (though squeaking in at 32 overall to Minnesota that year).

Oh, I'm all in favor of doing that. Remember after '17, when the Eagles ran it back in '18 (and then once again in '19)?

Didn't work out too well, did it? (Sure, we'll never know what would have happened if Jefferey catches that pass in New Orleans but still, the result simply wasn't there with two 9-7 seasons).

So, I'm all for re-tooling and tweaking the roster every year, especially when you can't afford to pay everybody to begin with.

It's just reaching the point where the amount of turnover on defense is starting to worry me a little. Slay, Milt, Sweat, CJGJ, Rodgers, Burks all gone, probably BG as well. That's A LOT of quality snaps that will have to be replaced.
