I could have sworn during the SB, that they listed the weight of 325 as the minimum vs average. Given the size of Becton/Malahatia, Lane, Dickerson, 325 average would seem light for their group.

He's been in the low 30Xs since he made the switch away from Tight End at Nebraska. Jurgens coming out as a

It's incredible what he can do at his size.

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a while.

Was OC at Virginia Tech during Beamer's last years. You could tell the offense he wanted to run could work, but it was too complicated for the college game. And we didn't really have the talent to make it work.

Interestingly enough, Aaron Moorehead was on staff as well as our WR coach, brought in with Loeffler, so that'll be a of a reunion.

This was my problem with him. You gotta know who you have. The roster by then needed straightforward and he failed to id that. A thing that always irritates the shit out of me with coaches.

He probably would have been a ton more successful 6-8 years earlier. As in, yes, he would have been.

Yep

That said, I do think he and Hurts will be an excellent match and should help continue the growth of Hurts being able to identify and read a defense that seemed to really click with him as the season progressed.

Do we get any cap savings on this at all?

***EDIT***

Nevermind, Jeremy Fowler says 2.1M in cap savings.

They both had 8 figure dead caps with no further guaranteed money. Their base salaries for 2025 were not very high. That's all the team saves as they are going to be on the hook for any remaining SB and prior restructuring Unallocated charges over the next 2 seasons. Total dead cap on them was about $33 million combined.

14. To that point about a shallow WR market; I’ve heard the Patriots WILL do whatever they can to get a real “WR1” for Drake Maye and the new coaching staff. I heard they are knocking on all doors, seeing what they can possibly trade for, and one person told me they heard the Patriots called Philly asking if A.J. Brown was available. Shrug emoji on if that’s true, or what Philly’s answer was, but this much seems certain: New England will aggressively try to upgrade its wide receiver room this offseason.

Just found it funny and it probably will never happen. Berry's a fantasy guy but he's heard things that come to fruition before.

I saw this one floating around a few days ago. The origin of the story is a Patriots blog called Musket Fire that does not have a good rep.

I’m sure they did call. There’s no way in holy hell. We just don’t usually hear about these things. The Pats leaked it because the market looks completely boned. WR1s aren’t available often.

A post 6/1 trade would only save 6+ in space. There isn’t even much to gain here let alone the obvious on field problem.

I’m actually waiting to see if there’s actually a team dumb enough to trade up for one of these QB’s. I think Ward is really the only one I’d feel comfortable drafting somewhere in the first round that’s not towards the top.

I think I might even like Dart in the second round better than Sanders.

Really need Saquon contract details because...

I'm with you on Ward. That's the only one where I can even see a path to meaningful success. It sounds like the league mostly agrees too.

I'd rather sign KJ Jefferson as a UDFA, get him in my building, stash him on the PS, and maybe even switch positions than take most of these other swings at expected cost.

It’s pretty much the worst year to need a QB & have a lame duck GM/HC combo going into next year. I assume that’s why the Browns & Giants seem to be most rumored to take one of these guys at #1-2 (obviously Giants would have to trade up).

Seems to be the most logical thing (without knowing any details of course). Some new money, yes, but I can't imagine the whole 36 million guaranteed being new money.

Howie is too slick with the cap to do something as boneheaded as what this looks like on the surface. This has to be a move that opens up more near term cap.
