I couldn't give less a shit about criticisms of 'tanking' in the NBA.
It's a broken f***ing league. You don't have anywhere near the actual IMPACT TALENT to allow for teams to improve without doing it.
The contract system is a joke. There's absolutely zero ability for a bad team to be able to attract a FA after they come off a rookie deal unless they are one of a handful of actual 'destination cities' that players care about and the rest of the league is just going after the leftovers.
You look at what Oklahoma City did with Durant/Westbrook/Harden and then had to rebuild/tank (and were not stopped by the NBA like the Sixers were) and get an opportunity to rebuild their franchise.
If you're not a destination city your only HOPE of even being a contender is if you luck into a superstar player (likely thru tanking to get a high draft pick) and then manage to keep them there while they seek out the supermax.
