Normally I'd be on the player's side, but I have a feeling that in this case the team wanted him to have a procedure that would have given him more or less a healthy knee but would have required him to miss all of next season (after missing basically all of this season) and he refused. At the end of the day, I don't think a team can force a player to have a procedure against the player's will. If the doctors recommended meniscus replacement and Embiid was ok with it, I don't think the team can say "no, we want you to play this year". Of course, if they found doctors who recommended what seems to be (at best) a band-aid approach, that's a different story and those doctors should probably be sued for malpractice.
