At 2-11, if they're not at that point, they are very close to pulling the plug completely on the season.

They desperately need Maxey. He’s the only guy right now who is a gravity nightmare for opposing teams. And they need his shooting. Being light on shooters was the hole even before. Maxey and McCain should feast in the backcourt, benching Lowry’s ass and opening up easier looks for others. At no point this season has PG been an actual 3rd option on the weak side.

Yabusele only getting garbage time was a CHOICE in a game like this. Nurse has been pretty bad in his own right. But the elephant in the room is Embiid not looking playable in all 3 games. Their season boils down to: “Does this change? Yes or no?”

I suppose the glass half full hope is that everyone will get healthy and they will have a playoff mentality for much of the season, rolling into the playoffs as a team that has been playing for its life, more or less, for a while. Nothing gives me the hope they have that mental fortitude and determined motivation though

not saying Reggie Jackson is good, but he played really well in the Cavs game and has been given 0 minutes since then. Meanwhile, Downtin is averaging over 20 minutes the last 4 games? Nurse is losing my faith in him fast, he seems to be flailing out there.

Bad coaching can usually be softened with good shooting, sixers arent doing that either. Everything that could go wrong is happening all at once.
Except McCain's emergence.

I know you can't blame everything on the coach but even with the injuries, etc... this team should have won more than two games at this point. They have played decently in the first half of some games, but then it's all downhill. And Jackson certainly seems like a more useful player than Dowtin.

Yeah definitely not blaming it all on Nurse, just his choice of players. The players are the ones missing easy layups and turning the ball over.

failures all around and its truly mindboggling. All of these guys can play, we have all seen them excel, but together they are a mess. After the first 10 games I kept telling myself, they just need to gel. But blowing a 19 point lead was inexcusable.

and yeah, like clock work the start of the second half they forget how to play.

Reggie Jackson is not the answer to anything substantive. He can create with the ball in his hands and that’s it. He’s also going to force that ability at all costs even in games where he has nothing. You bring him in for microwave situations. I like having him as an end of bench guy for those super narrow bands, but McCain functionally pushed him out. They’re not really playable together.

But the elephant in the room is Embiid not looking playable in all 3 games. Their season boils down to: “Does this change? Yes or no?”

This. Forget the attempts to rewrite what happened over the summer. The excitement was appropriate for the time. Either Embiid returns to form or he doesn’t. This is the NBA. You need true stars. If they have 2 or 6 wins right now misses the point completely.

No one is saying that Jackson is the answer to anything other than, "is there a guard on this team that is more useful than Jeff Dowtin?" Jackson is certainly a legitimate answer to that question (so is basically every other guard on the roster for that matter).

Embiid right now looks so far from his normal self, even his normal injured self, that this team could easily be 2-20 by the time he rounds into form. If he even does round into form. In the meantime you need to do whatever is necessary to win any games that you can. Dowtin over Jackson makes no sense from that perspective.

Jackson is worse defensively. He’s one of the worst defenders in the league. Has been for the better part of a decade.

I would try different lineups fairly often right now. This isn’t a Nurse is right thing. But I don’t think it’s this clear cut at all. That’s what I meant when I said McCain pushed him out. A Jackson + McCain backcourt can’t guard anyone.

That could be a reasonable point were it not for the fact that according to what they said on the post game show last night, the Sixers are the worst defensive team in the league. But they're also the lowest scoring team in the league. 2-12 is bad but being the worst on offense AND defense would suggest a different approach. I'll live with Jackson's defense if he can provide some kind of functional offense.
