Honestly, if we trade Ward and Staal, does that really make much of a difference in how the team has performed lately? Staal hasn't done **** since December, and Ward and Lack might as well be interchangeable.
If you think not having Eric in the lineup would be yielding similar results, you're sorely mistaken. To a lesser extent, I'd say the same goes for Ward. But, he did let up that softie against TB, so clearly he's AHL level replaceable right now.
Eric hasn't scored a goal in like, 13 games.

Faulk playing?
Ghost isn't getting a point tonight.
Looks like he'll be a game-time decision. My guess is no.

I agree. They practiced with him as the extra D, which tells me he's not ready.
I'll take 5-0-1. Drag those sum*****es into overtime, at least.
Like I said, a long shot.
My guess is that would leave us in the "win and you're in" situation (big assumption that 94 gets us in) vs....wait for it....the Florida Panthers.
I'd like to think that I've grown a little as a person since then and that the outcome of a sporting event no longer has the same ability to completely rip my soul out, but nonetheless I'm not sure that I could handle that again psychologically. At least this year Florida is actually a good team and we haven't beaten them 18 times in a row at home.
Hate to sound like a broken record, but the goal is the same as it was when we came out of the All Star break. Win 2 out of every 3. If we do that we end up in the Caniest of Canes situations....we'd have 92 points after 21 games. My guess is that would leave us in the "win and you're in" situation (big assumption that 94 gets us in) vs....wait for it....the Florida Panthers.
I would rather be squarely out of the Playoffs than encounter a win-and-in (edit: more accurately, a lose-and-out) situation against the Panthers for the last game of the year. I just can't deal with the inevitable disappointment that game would bring.
The nice thing about your position is that no one can prove you wrong. That doesn't mean you're right, though.
