Rumours suggesting Leafs eyeing Bobrovsky.
My statement remains, in a non tank season you aren’t tanking, your tandem can’t be Solartz/Hildeby and think your going to make the playoffs in the Atlantic.
Bob coming here would probably make way more sense on why Woll moved (Stolz and Bob won a cup as a tandem) than protecting Hildeby from waivers.
While at first Andrae looked underwhelming, the accounting reports on him have me excited about watching him. If you haven’t, go read some. Increased role in Toronto could do wonders for Andrae, and this kid may be 5’9, but he’s not soft and holds his own - size won’t limit him as much as you think.
This trade is looking better and better, and the notion this was made to clear a roster spot for Hildeby is more laughable by the day.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Anthony Stolarz is not ready to play at the beginning of next season after that terrible injury at the end of the season, it’s possible Toronto adds another goalie as insurance, at the worst Dennis Hildeby could be a 3rd string but I don’t expect Toronto to carry 3 goalies next season, someone will end up on waivers if both Hildeby and Sam Ersson are in the organization in September.
As a Flyers fan I’ve watched 95% of Philly’s games this season, Emil Andrae is not a flashy defenseman but he’s not underwhelming either, I see Emil’s strengths in his mobility and hockey IQ but what really impressed me his ability to move the puck so quickly and get it to his teammates in an organized manner on their tapes.
Andrae also showed a willingness to compete throughout the season never backing down despite being undersized and that’s why Flyers fans liked him for that reason, there were a few nights where he had some inconsistency in his games but it was expected for a younger defender with a little over 100 NHL games played coming from overseas.
I believe Andrae could shine in Toronto if he can get some ice time but he’s going to earn it starting during training camp/preseason, Emil also has a knack for getting himself out of trouble on the end walls against aggressive forechecking teams.
I want Simon Benoit to hit someone and stay steady defensively, no need for him to even cross the red line, also need Joseph Woll to stay healthy in Philly, we need more .905 + save percentage seasons from him.
Also sucks losing a 3rd rounder to the Leafs bringing Philly’s picks to only 4 picks in the 26 draft as of now.
