What exactly even happened with Ronald Attard's development? He seemed like he was on a fairly promising path a while back. Is there anything worth taking a flyer on there still?

He's a RHD, fairly big, skates pretty well, has a great shot. But he doesn't see the ice well and he's prone to turnovers. And now he's 25. He just hasn't developed the tool box to house all of his tools, unfortunately.

Attard decision making fits his name pretty well from what I've seen

Instead of trying to figure out how to utilize Ronnie Attard’s strengths, they told Ronnie Attard to become Erik Cernak, which is impossible because Erik Cernak is Erik Cernak.

He shouldn't have been drafted in the first place. Definitely a guy for the AHL GM to track, but when you see his game for years in his draft window, it's pretty evident that this isn't an NHL player. But a guy that can make a pro career for himself no doubt...

Doesn’t play a lick of defense. 6’3 and soft as puppy poop

Thinks he’s Erik Karlson

Or, more likely, it is a smart move to waive him now when many players are being waived in hopes that he won't be claimed.

Always nice to have solid RHD available in the AHL.

The hatred for Ian Laperierre from some in the Flyers' fan base is hard to understand. The man has forgotten more about hockey than some of his critics know.

It’s clear he’s not really part of their future at the NHL, they’ll be happy to have him in the AHL, but if another NHL team wants him, they’ll be happy to see him get a shot there, too. Attard is 25, with his playing style, you’re either in or you’re out by now.

Everyone knows Laperriere is a puppet, he was a director of player development for a franchise that is where they are because they couldn’t develop players, and then he was an assistant coach who ran a PK that put up some of the worst percentages we’ve ever seen. He’s made a coaching career out of being a yes-man for a franchise that only knows how to hire yes-men. To his credit, when players get recalled, they’re generally not too far out of their depth, but they could be a Tortorella-effect. But if another team were to hire him, the decision makers should be institutionalized.
