How is Yakupov on the left side?
Streit makes 5.25m, so it's 3.25 after 2 retained
How is Yakupov on the left side?
Man these Yakupov trades are brutal. I'd much rather waive him than take any of the proposals I've seen.
I'd be happy to pack Yakupov with a 3rd for a 2nd from a weaker team.
It's funny you say that yet those 2 guys fill voids on the Oilers....a PP QB and defensively responsible bottom 6 player who can PK and could chip in 15 goals and 30 points.

No thanks.
1 - We're more than good enough up front at this point. Just need to give the guys time to gel. We're getting good enough performances our of our forwards that even with Pacman out for a month we could afford to waive Yak and have Pool Party start the season in the AHL.
2 - I do not believe that either of Read or Streit are built for the west.
3 - Have no interest in paying Read next year.
I'll hold out for when Edmonton is ready to trade Nuge + for a 2nd pairing RHD + 3rd line C, thanks.

We arent trading Yak. This is the 349th thread by other fans trying to abscond the guy cheap. Sometimes no really does mean 'no'.
This Flyers fan doesn't want Yak for anything. If he can't produce in a no pressure environment like Edmonton, how's he going to produce in a high pressure market ?

I agree. Plus the fans would eat him up. Now that Luke Schenn is gone the haters are looking for a new whipping boy. They always need one no matter what and Yak and the way he plays would be a very easy target. He would be running home in a heartbeat.
so how does Yakupov play in your opinion? Edmonton fans are as crazy as any in the league and every little thing the players do gets highlighted here. Forget grocery shopping the players cant even use public washrooms without a line of fans waiting for an autograph. Yakupov has his issues but he never has an issue with the fans. Canadian markets are as high pressure as any. He would be loved wherever he goes by the fans at the arena. keyboard ninjas are another beast. He is the opposite of Luke Schenn.. He works very hard and is always buzzing around. He also feeds off the fans and plays for them as much as playing for his team. I doubt anyone at games has ever boo'd him.. Even when he returns to play against the Oilers down the road he will be cheered on. Fans jump on players who dont seem to give a crap and looks lazy.. Yak is the opposite.
It is not so much the fans, to begin with anyway... it is the media...
and you think Edmonton media spares Yakupov? There is a daily half hr segment on Yakupov bashing on the radio. Hockey is the only major sport in this city and is pretty much all they talk about on sports radio. Its the media here that is running Yak out of town by blowing up every small mistake. There is a reason why Yak's recent interviews are so bitter.
There's a fantasy out west that the hockey there is tougher or played at a higher level.
Keep in mind Streit is a LHD and power play specialist that plays on the right side
To Edmonton:
Mark Streit - 1yr $3,250,000 ($2m retained - $5.25m original salary)
Matt Read - 2yr $3,625,000 (nothing retained-editted based on reaction)
2017 2nd round pick
To Philly:
Nail Yakupov - 1yr $2,500,000 RFA
2017 3rd round pick
Reason:
The Oilers have to many elite forwards to have a weakness on the top power play. Streit fills that void and allows the young D to learn on the second unit. Read is versatile and a good analytics player ideal for bottom 6, which is where they always play Yakupov incorrectly anyway. Read's also a 20 goal scorer when his linemates aren't RJ Umberger and Vinny Lecavalier. Flyers could use Yakupov on a scoring line with either Giroux or Voracek (and how he finds his scoring touch not seen since juniors) while using guys like Simmonds or Raffl on the 3rd line, without having defensive liability problems.
