I think it was more about giving him a taste of the NHL.8 games on the 4th line... when the Phantoms best skater over the season with a veerrrry good SHL year behind him last year too.
He is a Euro and not physical despite being very gritty and playing all 3 positions and being a legit PKer...
so yeh, no matter how many points you score, how well you play 2-way, always going to be at a disadvantage.
I think he'd play best with Laughton so of course they'll trade himI think it was more about giving him a taste of the NHL.
His real chance at winning a job is next fall in TC.
Lycksell is a "tweener," not really skilled enough for top 6, not suited for an "energy" line.
But there should be openings on the 3rd line next season, especially if Laughton is traded.

Watching him, he didn't look nearly as NHL ready as Foerster, more like Desnoyers, where you could see flashes, but also see that spending the rest of the season in the AHL was a good thing. I simply didn't see great vision from Lycksell, good but not great speed, a decent shot, but nothing stood out. Someone who looked much better at the AHL level with bigger windows and more time.I would say he is probably more "skilled" than some of the guys who have played top 6 this year if talking hands, passing etc.
3rd lines in the modern NHL are not just energy lines though... they need skill and scoring ability.
Because if your 7-8-9 fwds cannot pace for ~100 points or more between them then your team is likely shit.
Reminder, Zac attack played in the top 6 at times this year.

MacEwen is RW, Lycksell a LW.
When MacEwen moved up the lineup, JVR, Allison, Laczynski, Brown, were all out

When MacEwen moved up the lineup, JVR, Allison, Laczynski, Brown, were all out, they were playing Willman, Sedlak, Bellows. When JVR and Allison came back, MacEwen went to the 4th line then was traded.
I read this and first though of Zac Rinaldo. Totally forgot about MacChewanReminder, Zac attack played in the top 6 at times this year.
A LW can't play RW....but Braun sure can play forward!Tortorella doesn't give a shit. He was flipping players from position to position all season. This doesn't function as a defense. He does not view position as a limiting factor.
I think they tried Lycksell at RW, if I remember, it wasn't very pretty.A LW can't play RW....but Braun sure can play forward!

They do. Unfortunately one of them is in the Gulag.Would be cool if the Ghosts actually had two goalies like Charlotte so they didn't have to ride the guy who played five periods for them last night.
Of course, they technically shouldn't have even been in the playoffs anyway and wouldn't have before last season.
