Best game I’ve ever seen McAvoy play live

I’m a big fan but didn’t know he had that level of ability

Coyle also similar -for a day he was Mark Messier. What was up with that

kudos to Lou who told me pre trade the Bruins should see if they can get Kastelic he’s a born Bruins

Sweeney probably is the worstest GM in the NHL since the league expanded from 6 teams but getting Kastelic looks brilliant

Should have kept Jake ‘the assassin’ DeBrusk though

Kastelic on pace to score 10G 13A 23P. He’s a fine 4th liner but suggesting trading a recent Vezina winner for a 23 point 4th liner puts Sweeney in the running for GM of the year is slightly absurd

The Big Smoke (unfortunately)
Well 3 out of the last 5 under Sacco, and if they hadn’t blown it against Pitt it would’ve been 4 out of 5, while losing the best game they played (but that’s what mediocre teams do - win 3 out of 5 when it woulda/coulda/shoulda been 5. Which is why they’re mediocre, of course).

Sure, against weak teams, but there are enough weak teams in the league, including, importantly, in our own division, that we should be able to rack-up enough points to keep our heads above water.

Two 6-packs in that span too believe or not, albeit, again, against crap. Still 😲

Keep ‘et going boys!

Bruins tried to get Olivier in the Peeke deal last year and Columbus said no. Would have been fun to see Kastelic and Olivier on the Bruins 4th, assuming the Bruins still picked Kastelic as one of the pieces in the Ullmark deal.

Good game outside of the usual going to sleep in the third period. Though this one is at least understandable given they were up big..

- McAvoy? Yeah, more of this version. Looked way more decisive in his play. Less mistakes, more confidence.

- Defense went back to being structured.

- Swayman wasn't too hot, but didn't need to be.

My only pause for concern is this Montreal team is really bad. Defensive miscues everywhere, Primeau i think by statistics is the worst goalie in the league right now. Might have been a mirage but a win's a win. (though if you lit these clowns up, why couldn't you with pittsburgh?)
They played Rangers last game lost 4-3 and outplayed them for stretches and Rangers are reigning Prez Trophy and picked by many to win Cup

Bruins I read beat a weak Utah team so marginalized win yet Utah beat Vegas 6-0 last night in Vegas

All wins against nhl teams are pretty good to me

Luckily we played an inferior team today. There’s plenty of things that need to happen such as Geekie anywhere near the top two lines and McLaughlin allowed on NHL ice. Swayman still looks shaky.

Koepke & Beecher were strong again

Olivier would be fun for sure

My favorite part about today's broadcast was the interview with Taz and Nifty during the second intermission. That really took me back to my youth...It was awesome. Best part was Taz telling the story about the time he accidentally punched Andy Van Hellemond during a scrum.

The game was pretty good too. Nice to see Charlie Mac get some of his swagger back.

I’ve met Nifty a couple of times. Extremely nice guy.

Who put him in running for GM of year ? I am pretty busy and don’t get to read all the posts like the old days

Beating Montreal for the centennial just makes you feel like everything is right in the universe. As it should be.

Really liked the Kastelic Frederic Coyle idea. That one might be a keeper. Might have to tweak that 4th line a bit without Kastelic on it but Coyle where he belongs at 3C and those 2 guys makes it a heavy and dangerous line.

PP still sucks bad. Maybe they should just play them like it's 5 on 5 with regular lines and D pairs or just decline them since they can't seem to fix it.

It’s encouraging to see the Bruins return to a defensive structure and performance that works. Their best years happen when they are near the top of the NHL in overall defense and goals against.
