We had two checking lines this time around and it was pointless. Guys like Marchand and Cirelli should not be there. Load up the top 3 lines then have guys like Hagel with Bennett and Wilson on the 4th. You can find top guys that kill penalties (Marner, Reinhart)

As a Habs fan, I hate him but I still don't understand why Scheifele wasn't there.

A lot of the top skilled players are already great penalty killers anyway. I don't see the point of having PK specialists.

That’s completely right. Canada is talented enough to not need "specialists". Cirelli just made no sense. He’s small, he’s not even good at faceoffs and he averages 40 points a season. Just because someone is a decent NHL player doesn’t mean they are suited for best on best.

We know enough about advanced stats that we are better having Mark Scheifele with offensive zone possession than having Cirelli tie up a guy along the boards.

A lot of people didn't like Hagel. I thought he was really good. Brought intensity and effort, along with skill.

I’d still like to know whose idea it was to trot Gretzky out there. They should be fired for being so stupid. If I was Crosby, I would’ve said something to him. Giving the thumbs up to the US bench and not even bothering to wear anything representing Canada. No effort whatsoever. They really should’ve had one of our gold medal women out there. Gretzky can believe what he wants, but he does not represent Canada and it was disrespectful to have him out there.

And on a negative note: many important players were injured during this Tournament. I don’t know if teams’ owners will allow their star players to participate in such a series just before the big race to finish the season and get to the Playoffs.
