Rumor: Pettersson and JT Miller Part XVIII: We wont play nice in the team sandbox

you misunderstand. they have an advantage with a pending nmc, not an active nmc.

obviously they can't acquire players with an active nmc. and that is how an nmc is supposed to work.

but by acquiring players with a pending nmc, buffalo can game the system since being in buffalo with an nmc defeats the exact purpose of having an nmc. thus buffalo can take bigger trade risks than other teams on players who have extended longterm prior to being nmc eligible.

and that is not a level playing field. clearly bettman should intervene.
I didn't misunderstand at all. You think Buffalo trading for a player that has a NMC that hasn't kicked in yet is some sort of advantage because the player will inevitably be so fed up with this organization they'll go anywhere to get out, thus nullifying their NMC. No offense, but that's a pretty dumb assertion. All it does is put Buffalo in a position where they have to move the player and the player can dictate where they go, it absolutely knee caps the organization in any negotiations. Buffalo needs to make sure a player in that position isn't a poison pill or it could absolutely blow up in their faces.

Who could have thought that Miller wouldn't be bringing back someone like Lafreniere or Schneider? No way anyone could have seen this coming.

This is about as good as Vancouver was going to get with all of the circus around Miller. It sucks for them but it was the best case scenario.

This Miller nuklehead will have to face the rightful Captain of the Nucks: Bo Horvat. Hope he and NYR get destroyed I am looking forward to it!

It would be kind of funny if this turned out to be another Schneider/Loungo situation. Have to trade one but trade both and then have to find a replacement
