Rumor: Pettersson and JT Miller Part XVIII: We wont play nice in the team sandbox

At this point I don't trade them in Vancouver.
I sit them down and say you signed a contract play well. We can trade one of you down the line but we are getting shit offers and we can't trade you for them.

So either do better or your stuck together.
I'm sure they have tried this approach. The rift is a distraction and both players are underperforming. EP is probably easier to move in a vacuum, but I don't think you are going to get phenomenal value out of moving either player.

Maybe - just maybe - this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion? I’m not talking about Miller having issues in the locker room and potentially causing rifts. I’m talking about “Hughes/ Demko/Boeser/EP all want out right now!” and “EP is getting traded” clickbait. I’m talking fever dream trade pitches on this site. I remain unconvinced that Miller’s absence is entirely about the team and think there may be personal issues underpinning it as well. The team is finally playing with a relatively healthy roster (cue new injury - ugh) and getting some wins.

There are clearly some issues and I suspect we’ll see a move or two (likely after the season). But if you step back from the noise, recognize that some of the folks communicating about this never break Canucks news, and see that some of the hyper-posters on this topic historically like to shit on the Canucks franchise… it seems like this has been less of a 10/10 situation and more of a 6/10. Which isn’t good, but can be remedied by winning some games… which is now happening.

Maybe I’m wrong. But ~10 first page threads about various Canucks players on the Trade forum seems like little more than catnip for shitposters.

At least 1 is getting moved, most likely JTM, but it’s looking like it won’t happen til the offseason.
Personally, I’d have moved one by now as the longer you keep that disfunction in the room, the more likely it’ll grow and spread.

According to Rutherford that’s already happened to the point that they’ve decided barring a miracle, they’ll have to make a change. If Miller is traded we will no doubt see other moves and those will be telling. I have a feeling the reason Boeser and the team haven’t held contract negotiations is partly because of this situation.

You can also tell that the external sources have been a mental mindf*** for both this season. Miller with his mental health issues, Pettersson trying to work through his injury and get scammed out of $300,000+. The situation isn’t as simple as people want it to be. At the end of the day, both these guys are still playing with each other and don’t appear to have any carry over issues that are spilling into the ice.

Just trade one and move on with your lives, holy cow man.

I appreciate you sharing this great fantasy for nucks fans, is that the fairytale ending you are all hoping for?

Miller and Pettersson probably clash over politics and social issues. Petey is quite, liberal (he has refugee friends), and Miller is Conservative American. I wish Canucks management handled this differently. Why do they care if these Guys dislike each other? Petey is capable of regaining his form, and Miller has proving he can play against the best. They won't get better by trading these guys.

Ottawa offers Norris, Forsberg, unprotected 1st round pick, Blake Montgomery and Gabriel Eliason for Petey.

Thyeve been playing together for 6 years. This isnt a new thing....it just got leaked and reported more this year in detail.

Miller is gone. ID say 20% chance by Deadline. 80% chance by the Draft.

EP40 isnt getting moved unless there's a Godfather offer for him.

What odds to you put towards it? I remember hearing Subban trade rumors back a while back and I was in denial. At that point in time, there was not much media leaks with the bickering going on between Subban/Patch/Gallagher but after Subban was traded for Weber, it came out. This one is different with the Canucks... The GM said there are issues publicly.

I think the Canucks are listening to all offers on both players. Imagine if both are traded and the Canucks bring in 3 or 4 core young pieces? That would be a shocker.

I believe Miller would have been traded by now if not for the NMC. I think that is a stumbling block and then you combine the 31-37 contract. Of course teams are knocking on the door but doubt they will offer a young player under team control for the 31-37 contract.

Pettersson has a looming NMC coming in July. That was exactly the same thing with Subban and he was moved a few days before July 1st.
I think the odds are low simply because Allvin does and should view them as moveable only in a trade that makes the nucks a better team, something that would be extremely hard given the position they play and there struggles this season.
In the interview JR said they won't be forced into a trade and for me that's the most important take, I also think that the last two games especially last night both players seemed to make an effort to communicate and involve each other something we haven't seen a lot of sadly.

For me I think it's entirely possible that both players are embarrassed that JR basically called out their rift and as elite athletes maybe that struck a nerve in a good way. I obviously have no proof of that but it seemed pretty obvious that both players body language towards each other seemed different last night.
End of the day neither player has asked for a trade and as long as the team keeps playing well, both players continue to find their game I think all this dies down and maybe gets revisited in the summer.
Now if we are clearly out of a playoff spot come tdl than maybe a different scenario plays out.

Much ado about nothing.

Two players purportedly hate each other's guts? Big deal.

The late great Casey Stengel is reputed to have said something to the effect that the trick of being a manager is to to keep the half of the guys that hate your guts away from the other half that haven't made up their minds yet.

It's a hockey team, not a blind date.

Maybe it's not happening because Canucks GM is likely getting fired and ownership wants the new GM making the moves.

FA has so much trouble getting any GM to want to work for him that he had to promise JR and PA full autonomy. Sounds like he rescinded that a bit, but if he fires them, he will need to GM the team for the season and will likely be forced to sell in order to not bankrupt the team.

I mean... Trolling a bit here but you'll get my point.

He can hire me and if he does would you want to be my assistant GM for 2/4 years before we're fired? ( people will take the job )

NHL revenues won't let him go bankrupt in a year(half season).

You got it buddy. Can I be in charge of leaking things to the insiders?
