Vegas wouldn’t consider this. Jack works great in Vegas why take a chance on swapping when the may find the next player doesn’t work as well as Jack does.

Man 2 years ago people like be saying no chance Vancouver does this
Mackinon never got over 100 points till he was 28. Petterson did when he was 23.

Everyone talks a big game about buying low. Yet almost nobody is capable of doing it. Certainly nobody on this thread.

Acquiring Petterrson right now would be “buying low” - no one is arguing that. They’re arguing the price for “buying low” should not be Jack Eichel.

Surprised nobody bit on the whole Vegas wins simply because Eichel is the older player.

The only way to unload Pettersson right now is to swap him for another struggling star, not for a star who's having a career year.

I think people are open to it if the value going back is commensurate.

Looks like people feel Vancouver would need to add significantly so why not roll with the punches and throw some more assets in on Van’s side?

Last year , it was the opposite. And it's 8 games in.

It happened to Jack Eichel himself

Ah yes. Just like he was in Buffalo
Eichel had 18points in 21 games for Buffalo with a neck that needed a experimental surgery, Pettersson is on pace for 36 points in 82 games with a broken mental state, fail to see how they’re anyway comparable.

Man just a few years ago all the HF polls had this guy top 5-10 in the whole league, always rating higher then players like Matthews. or Eichel.

A career PPG player has never been broken. But if there was a fanbase that could do it , it would be Vancouver. Pettersons personality just doesn't work with the market. Whatever his problem is , the market is sure to make it worse. And Tocchet is already taking the media's side. And fuelling it himself.

Vegas is always game for a flashy move. Maybe they'd be interested in a Petterson Eichel swap. With maybe some tinkering on the margins. Kinda like the Havlat/Heatly deal.

Petterson is 25. Eichel is 28. Vegas woild win the trade just based on that.

Hossa was traded for Heatley.

Aside from financials, Heatley could play at LW which broke up the Alfredsson, Hossa, Havlat logjam at the RW position.

And there’s no way they would trade a #1C who had a large hand in winning a Cup for a 11 million dollar guy in a career slump.

Vancouver sure is a horrible and toxic market, but McCrimmon ain't trading away their cheaper, more accomplished guy, keep dreaming

The Rangers would gladly send Zibanejad++ for Pettersson.

The only issue is would he waive his NMC. Maybe Drury can “have a talk” with him like he did with Panarin.

That's a fair argument. But most of the reactions I don't think are that. Many of them just think Petterson sucks. And they aren't capable of seeing further than 10 games ahead.

Even a lot of Canucks fans are talking abject nonsense about how any trade would require big retention.

Aren't you the guy who thought Bedard would be better than McDavid?

Yeah, maybe we should take your opinions lightly.
I said Bedard could be as good as Mcdavid, considering he was better than Mcdavid in junior. And it should have been the opposite. Mcdavid with the bigger body , should have been better than Bedard in jr.

Some players just peak early. Eric Staal had 100 points at age 21 but settled into more of a 75 point player.

That was 2005/06. The year after the lockout and the new rules. Everyone was peaky that year and the year after. So Staal always was a 75 pt player

Allvin would be GM of the year if he could pull this off. That being said, it's basically impossible and Petey's just gotta find his form and the Canucks need to be patient, unless they want to get fleeced and regret it by next season when he gets better. Boeser slumped, Garland slumped, even Demko sucked recently. Given time and presumably work put in, look at where they are now. I have no doubts that Petey will find that confidence again and be 80 points minimum. Maybe not this season, but it's probably too early to give up on him (and insane to expect Eichel coming back).

He declined more than overall scoring did. Another example would be Joe Juneau. 102 points as a rookie. 84 points the year after, but ended up as a 50-60 point player for most of his career. Pettersson is showing some troubling signs.

Both fanbase properly hate this idea but Cozens + Benson for Pettersson. Cozen salary off set some of picking up Pettersson deal. Benson is a young bluechip prospect and a lower mainland BC guy.
