Peterborough Petes 2024 25 Season Thread Part Ii

I don't see Taylor being to high on any schools radar in the US.
Cameron will have lots of options eventually though.
I’m hoping that the trajectory the Petes are on means that the team is championship calibre in Cameron’s 19yo season (26-27). He’s likely wearing the C at that point and IMO won’t want to leave.

Cameron might wear it next year. Don’t know anyone else would be a serious candidate for it.

Pete’s should be targeting his 19 year old year for sure obviously with Taylor and Young too. Fitzgerald 18 in his dy+1.

This year Pete’s should try and aim for 3-6 spot and following year go all in.

Thanasi Marentette wears it for the next three years.

In all seriousness, though, the only other two I could see it being is McCallum or Faulkner in that order, but I'd say they're both a long shot at best.

hes a very good player, not like elite high end probably a legit late 2nd early third. he works hard. hes a better bet then hage imo.
Sounds like the Petes could sign both Alex Hage and Gavin Lock but have not guaranteed them anything and want them to come to camp to win there spots before committing to them.

Also, I wouldn’t read into anything about DiCunzolo signing before the rest of the top 3 picks. Sounds like teams are having a hard time getting players to commit (league wide) right now because of some contract language since the ncaa rule change. Something the league is working on ironing out…. Agents telling there clients not to sign until it’s fixed.

correct, theyve taken away the 4 year guarantee and just mandatory year by year commitments like the ncaa does. plus they only get it if they play into the 19 year old year. not much the agents can do about it really

Is it true there is no longer such thing as “gold cards” anymore and all OHL contracts are the same?

no, 1st round picks still get top end compensation, its just only guaranteed year over year, not 4 years right away. you need to earn the package every year like you do in the ncaa

Because none of the guys they have on the roster currently have really proven they are that good.
They just signed an American goalie who’s ranked for the NHL draft… Easton Rye had a good first full season in the league and Masen Johnston looked good in his limited action and played very well in OJHL.

Agree to disagree. Goalie is the last place the Petes should be investing time and assets into IMO.
