I know we took player heavy deals when we sold but it is pretty funny looking at how relatively thin our draft pick cupboard is considering the last 2 seasons we have had lolHere is a “rough” breakdown of each teams “roster” this season by birth year.
I basically took anyone who suited up 10 games or more with a team and was still their property after the trade deadline. We don’t know how many of the 2005s will be returning to the OHL next season and with the possibility that some of the 2006s may leave for the NCAA (like Mews) we can’t really make accurate predictions about possible trade targets……but that’s never stopped me before!
IMO the highlighted teams are good trade partners for the Petes.
They have extra 2005s (OA candidates), 2006s (veterans who are possible OAs in 2026-2027) and/or are thin on 2007s.
Oke knows that he needs to bring in older players this season to strengthen the lineup.
I believe that when it comes to forwards the Petes are very thin at RW. It would be great to target OA and/or 2006 RWs if at all possible. Wilson has a number of RH centers who can play on the wing so that’s always a possibility too.

Not sure what Oke will do with the OA situation…….Bowen will be traded for sure but who do you keep from Page, Faulkner and Jenken? At least one of these 3 will be kept IMO; I’m just not sure which one…….it could end up being a competition starting in training camp.
Sudbury and Kingston look like good spots to target OAs. Keep in mind Oke doesn’t want to blow the bank on a one year addition but it is important that he acquires guys with character and offensive upside.
Sudbury are probably more likely to make deals now that Mews is headed to Michigan.
Pharand and Coughlan are RWs that have offensive upside…...not sure of character or cost of these guys but they would fit nicely into the lineup.
Kingston will have extra OAs and there are a few interesting options……
Soto is a RW that has offensive upside Cal Uens (RD) is smaller but plays with some bite and has good offensive instincts Maleek McGowan (LD) is a solid all-round Dman who would be a great stabilizer for the Petes young group on defense.
Erie’s OA options……
Dylan Edwards is a smaller RW with good offensive skills (although his 2008 brother played a handful of games in Erie this season so Dylan may prefer to stay) Nathan Sauder (RD) a good-sized Dman who is great in his own end (led Erie with +27) Alexis Daviault (LD) is a a little smaller than Sauder but more offense (36pts) and less defense (worst on Erie with – 27).
Oshawa’s OA options……
Matthew Buckley is a smaller RW with decent skills.
Windsor’s OA options……
Wyatt Kennedy is a big RD who is hard to play against.
I still have no idea what the OA market will look like and with the Petes draft cupboard Oke will have to be shrewd in his deals. He does have extra 3rds and an extra 5th in 2027 and you know that he is stockpiling those 15th rd picks in 2028 for something special.![]()
