Peterborough Petes 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

Yes Rye should be the go-to goalie now but in Bowen's defense, he is a good goalie , sometimes inconsistent but he has made some amazing saves this year.
Absolutely Bowen has been good. He's been hung out to dry quite a lot, too. I just hope that they go with Rye for about 75 or 80% of the starts for the final month, and if they get into the last playoff spot, it should be a no brainer to get Rye the starts and experience for next season.

Now that signing makes not dealing Bowen at the deadline even more questionable presuming there was offers for him which I imagine there had to be. Question is where does this leave Johnston?

IMO Bowen is still a piece that could return a couple of picks in the off season so to play him less than 40% the rest of the way and diminish his value would not be smart IMO. As far as the playoffs go, I understand the desire from some to miss the playoffs and get a top 4 pick but it's about the culture you are creating and building on going forward.
Ultimately, it's the players on the ice who will decide whether the Petes can push and get that 8th spot. So, you challenge them to win as many games as possible down the stretch.......it's like every game is a playoff game the rest of the way which is great preparation for future seasons whether they get 8th place or not.
If the Petes squeak into 8th spot, you ride the hot hand in goal. I love how Rye is playing but, in the long run, it would be good for the Petes if Bowen stood on his head and even won a game in a 5 game series.
