Peterborough Petes 2024-25 Season Thread, Part II

One of the best efforts yet this year by the Petes with an incredible comeback against a very good Bulldogs team.

Taylor's shoot-out attempt, some kind of front-of-net-facing Michigan move should be reserved for your parents' driveway not in a shootout situation in an actual game. Either the coaches are giving players the green light to do whatever they want in shootouts or Taylor is a kid who likes to live on the edge. I guess we can't get down too much on him given he's 17 years old......

The fact that our top two defensemen were caught out on ice for most of the OT has more to do with the fact the Bulldogs had us hemmed in most of the OT. Cameron was motioning to bench when he had the puck behind our net trying to get someone to replace him - not sure why that took so long.

While I do agree Taylor should be using the scary shot he has rather than the overly fancy stuff, he's already our best guy in the shootout (he was tied for most shootout goals in the league after the last shootout). After the way he started the season, it seems he's starting to get his confidence back. While it sucks when it doesn't work out I'd rather him give it a try from time to time now than start to in a year when it matters more. While he's skilled enough to do it, he has in camp, he's not treating it like a go-to move and failing it every time. What we truly need is someone, ANYONE, else to score in a shootout if we happen to end up there. Taylor is now 3/6, and the rest of the team is 0/13.

Not sure why they went back to the 2 D in overtime. I thought they had finally moved on from that, but I guess not. They were a completely different team between scoring the first goal and the start of overtime. They need to play that way for 60 minutes and overtime, let alone a shootout, shouldn't be needed.

The two def were against Lardis and Thomas, game would have been over if you had forwards against them. Have to match up 3 on 3, had chances to win with Bryant and Stonehouse chances. If you saw coaches faces after Taylor attempt I would say not pleased.

He never seems to face any discipline for his play, though, so I doubt they'll do anything. The long shifts, avoiding contact and general floating seem to be fine with the coaches.

5/6 points this week! Love the way we are playing and I hope we can keep this offensive production going! 19 goals in our last 4 games

Your name is appropriate here. No other team ever uses two D in OT. Playing not to lose

Nice to get another win against a team near the top of the standings. Rye played well. Czata must just be having a fit after losing to the last place team again.

Exactly, your playing not to lose on that shift against the two of the top ten goal scorers in the league. You pick your line matchups that why you have last change. And take your chance against other lines. Aren't you the same guy that would have Stuska on the team even though he was waived through the league by 19 other GMs. Ya, you know hockey.
