Believe with the OHL draft lottery- it was only implemented because of Covid. Covid is done now would it not make sense to get rid of that? Unfortunately for your sake though it would probably come into play next season if something were to be done about that.

Here's a positive: we get to see Lardis Thursday. He'll probably score a couple, but I've always liked watching him play.
The one that got away... This stretch has only solidified one thing for me and it is I hope that Oke and this team never outright try to buy a championship again. We should be able to draft and develop year over year where we don't need to be hellbent on going all in with a specific age group (the '03s when we won) and instead can make necessary roster adjustments without breaking the bank and trading all of our picks and high end players like Nick Lardis and Jack Van Volsen that I wish were still on this team. I know I may sound like a broken record here but I never want to cut this deep again with this hardcore of a rebuild, when we instead could have age groups waves of talent that allows us to remain competitive year after year as opposed to only aiming for success once every three or four years. Obviously some buying and selling would take place, but the highs and lows will never reach what we are going through now...

Mccallum and Cameron are the only 2 assets you get something back for. Would be a shame. But would be the only 2 guys other teams would want IMO.
Mccallum is almost certain to be gone at deadline no sense of keeping him around for this rebuild which will still be going on when he aged out anyways let’s get a decent 07 n some picks

McCallum is an 06 who will almost certainly be an OA in this league. He lines up very well, unless we're already kicking a year down the road to align with the 08 born players.

To be replaced with what? He’s got potential but hasn’t lit the lamp this year. This team needs more 06 players that can step up and help the 07’s.

This is a very, very poor take.

This season may suck… but I’d do it all over again for that playoff run. Winning the championship at home infront of a sold out PMC…The city and arena were absolutely electric. Worth it.

This rebuild will end. That banner hangs forever.

I was a little groggy waking up and posted a hastily made message lol I wouldn’t trade any championships either but I just wish we would try to accomplish those championships in a much more sustainable manner instead of blowing our brains out around one year age group. That’s more so what I meant. That way we wouldn’t have to dump off young players and picks every time we want to make a run. It boils down to consistency year after year. We should be able to get the most out of our homegrown players with strong player development as our base which can help lead us to solid playoff runs. Putting this thought into words clearly didn’t come out well but I hope this clears it up a bit!

What happened two seasons ago was a unique situation. That year was the Petes window to contend and building the team had been impacted because of Covid. They had not been able to do a full rebuild after the run they made in the cancelled 2019-2020 season. They were not able trade Nick Robertson for a high return of a couple of players and multiple draft picks. They also could have traded other players for players and draft picks. They would have had some of the players or similar players that they traded for already on their roster and would have had more assets to trade for the players they needed. As a result they might have had to go into a complete rebuild last season if they had retained more of their draft picks. The OHL Championship was worth the rebuild we are currently under going.
