No Purdeller on the training camp roster, do we know why?
I had read a report that he was skating with the national team before reporting to Petes camp… can’t remember where I saw that though.

EDIT: I believe he mentions it here in this video

Look closely at the opposing team players and they cant skate. What league does he play in? Doesnt look like even Tier 2/Jr. A?

Sounds like they want to use the 2 overage spots on forwards
So

OA ADD-T.Robertson-C.Stillman
N.Lardis-J.R.Avon-C.Lockhart
T.Perdeller-OA ADD-J.Dezoete
J.Van Volsen-J.Melee-J.Dubois

S.Mayer-D.McCoy
A.Guryev-B.Zanetti
S.Spearing-J.Guo
K.Smith

M.Simpson
Veteran

Better then anyone eles lineup in the Eastern Conference if you ask me

I know oke said he wasn’t in a rush to add a overage player but I think adding one before the regular season would be a good idea as there is a lot of teams without 3 and only few teams with an extra as of now

Who are your ideal targets for those 2 spots? I think Hill from sarnia would look good in the third line centre spot

I can’t read the article… what does it say about why they can’t get his release?
"Oke said the holdup has come from his former team.

“They did not release him immediately so his agent is working with them and the IIHF and Hockey Canada to secure his release,” Oke said.

“We’ve had great dialogue with his agent and his agent has really taken the lead on this. He seems to be positive it will come to a successful conclusion but it’s one of those things where we just have to let the process play out.”

There is a standard $2,000 transfer fee which goes to the former team for the release. Oke said money is not the reason for the hold up. The process involves the Petes submitting the paperwork to Hockey Canada with the IIHF being the intermediary between the national governing bodies.

So while Oke is confident Purdeller will play for the Petes this season he cannot put a timeline on it."

Anyone interested in seeing if sztuska can win the back up job .
I feel bad for Sztuska. So much of it depends on timing when it comes to goalies in the OHL.
Unfortunately, I can't see Sztuska being a BUG on a team in the hunt for a championship.

I like Hill in that spot as well. My guess is that the possible extra OAs in Hamilton, Flint, Barrie and Mississauga may result in higher quality OA forwards being available. I think that is the biggest reason for Oke to be patient.

Some of these guys may end up moving on to play pro.
Some of the these guys play on OHL teams that will be competitive this season and they will keep these guys.
Time will tell, but......

Barrie…..Cardwell / McDonnell / Vierling

Mississauga…...Hardie / Collins

Flint……...Piercey / Panwar

Hamilton…...Morrison / Hayes / Diaco
