Teams like players can drop off a table. The 5 on 5 issues started years ago and have been the same through multiple coaches. The Presidents cup came under Lavi. Its a regular season trophyvwhich means little. Do you think Lavi just forgot how to coach from June till October or the players are giving less effort? Its not about the Xs and Os. Its about the Jims and Joes. If Bread and Zibs are playing lazy thats on them. If others guys play soft thats on them. Look at Brad Marchand. Is he the player he was 2 years ago? Coaches can make a difference but they are not going to make our guys in to Barkovs, McDavids and Makars.

I think we would luv Laffy to step up but he hasnt despite the opportunity. We would luve anyone to step up imo.
Lavys resume has a distinct pattern of great first year with said new team then diminishing results. Guess what happened here. Quenneville has a much better resume.

The lines made no sense. Also there needs to be a serious adjustment to the way the defend, because this isn’t working.
Quenneville knows how to win and he doesn't mess around.

I have no problem with Quennville as coach. I just do not think any coach is getting this current group of players to a cup finals. In fact I do not think any coach gets this current group of players to as much success as Lavi had last season. I do not have the same faith that you have in this current group of players. I have seen a handful of them quit multiple times in the playoffs as well as this season.

I'm very disturbed that I feel like the only one who has a problem with what Quenneville did and why he's not in the league. Is a game more important than that?

Maybe I'm wrong here but isn't it more about what he didn't do than what he did? Not saying that's good either but it seems like the difference betwen Peterno and Sandusky.

not a good idea to hire q if you are dolan. negative publicity in an area like nyc would be amplified 10-15x. just don't need the headaches from press, crowds picketing the garden, etc.

yea zero interest in this guy

some things are too morally bankrupt to overcome. this is one of those things. it's not like he's mike keenan, this is like trading for deshaun watson

i'm sure some team will hire him but i hope it's not us

Fair minded critiques of Lavy

1) absolute refusal to pull goalies, Quick in the blue jackets game is a perfect example

2) refusal to hold players accountable for egregious errors by using the bench and press box aka the constant problem with picked off cross ice passes

3) poor management of the assistants - our power play has regressed, league leading too many men, defensive system is a disaster even with new players, consistent issue with third man back and outlet passes

4) “fixing” what needs to be left alone - this is took the train off the tracks. Changing the Trocheck line to try and get Mika and Chris going while were winning (same thing with Lindgren)

5) team fitness, not a priority apparently - every team but the Islanders skates around us

6) refusal to adjust ice times based on merit, 4th line should be on the ice more

No coach is going to make a difference with this core. They were never it, but they were strong enough in the regular season and fortunate enough in the post-season that it masked the fact that they were just never good enough to win a Cup.

Now they can't even out-skill teams in the regular season, so we're getting post-season Rangers year round.

Should only be two word answers in this thread right now .

FIRE HIM !!!!
Nah... I don't want to pollute a new coach with this core.

Fix the locker room, then change the coach.

If you bring in a new coach now, he'll have to deal with personalities that refuse to play with others. Panarin and Laf with their terrible play, etc.

I'd sooner see that fixed a bit via a new coach this season rather than wasting games on it next season . Who knows....maybe they react to a new bench boss ? At least they would know what to expect the next season . Anyways...it is out of my hands .....

7) Continues to insist they play man on man in the defensive zone....even though its not working and they dont have the players to play this system.

We've gone from Quinn, to Gallant, to Lavi, with largely the same core.

A new coach is needed, but I don't want them to be influenced by this core.
