Exactly, how many coaches can one group of players have? This would be 4 in less than 5 years if they fired Laviolette. They haven’t been a legitimately good 5v5 team for any of them, which is where a coach would have the most impact. At some point the blame must be put on the players.

Laviolette keeps trotting out the same losers over and over just to get pummeled. he could limit their ice time if he was able to recognize how shit they are. i agree that the team isn't good enough but there has to be some blame put on the coaches for not recognizing certain players getting dummied every time they step on the ice. for instance, on what planet did Mika deserve to be out there for the 6on5 today?

It’s the players and the way the team is constructed. Special teams and goaltending have covered a lot of their issues over the years.

Yeah but management have been happy to employ coaches to play the team like that. It's been a short cut to playoff hockey without bothering to create an actual TEAM. That's why I've been blasting the coaches over the years. They've been happy enough to be bench coaches and roll the lines, but they've been cheating on the fundamentals and just hoped Igor or Panarin or Fox or Kreider would come up with a big save or a big goal.

Cooper in Tampa actually build a team with solid foundations that took Tampa to two cups. That's the difference. He didn't float along on top of a country club collecting a fat pay check.

It isn’t entirely coaching. The vets are weak willed. We all know this.

That being said, he is making lines and pairings that we know don’t work. That HE KNOWS they don’t work. That he is told that the analytics show they don’t work. He doesn’t care. He’s got the ghost of Mika playing 19 minutes. I don’t blame Mika for that. That’s the coach. Mika missing the empty net when he shouldn’t be on the ice is icing on the cake. Lavi is lost. Hire someone young and analytics based.
Drury got to go also.
Send them both home in a rusted out rental van with one seat
The sooner the better.
Like I have said before 84 going on 85 years with one cup to show is disgraceful and disrespectful to us fans

Lavi has worn out his welcome. Drury has worn out his welcome
Mika has worn out his welcome. Miller and Trouba are Garbage
I have seen enough of that 2OA bust Kaako. Smith and Cuyle are the only ones worth watching. Panarin plays hard most of the time.
The only time discipline would happen if you walk on the country clubs logo in the dressing room

This isn’t his fault but imo it’s also the coaches job to help the team figure shit like this out and he’s not doing that.

It’s clear who isn’t caring or trying on the ice. Show them the video, tell them results are one thing and you can’t help if you’re in a rut to some degree but you absolutely have to try and care and if you don’t you aren’t playing. If he’s already done that, then he has to sit those guys or give them absolutely minimal minutes until they can muster a care.

Often in the past I could figure out a fairly simple problem and a possible solution. With this group? I honestly do not know anything simple.

Mika, CK, Fox, Trouba, Lindy, KK, Kam are all players that have positives but also flaws. Its like a puzzle with no edge pieces.

Resign, fired all the same
He lost this team. Need someone like Berube, who will kick them in their collective asses

Give them a ticket to the pressbox, sit their butts, give them 4th line minutes
They can't give half the team 4th line minutes or benching. There's cap implications, there's issues with market value if you do that, etc. I doubt Lavi would even be allowed to if we wanted. Either way, they'd get destroyed anyway even by doing that.

And yea, you're right, he does seem to have lost the team. But this team doesn't keep getting new coaches. TBH, the fact they tanked Gallant, after Tanking Quinn only a year+ before was disgusting. Now they get to tank another? Gimme a break. It's time to move on from these players and let the young guys lead.

Unlike last rebuild, we have some great pieces in place to move forward. They can rebuild on the fly by supplementing the new core with good, veteran pieces that actually play decent. Replacing Trouba and Lindgren alone may very well make them a bubble playoff team or better.

This is a thing too. The political side of hockey between coach and upper management, to include owners, etc. Benching, demoting vets and starters you have payed millions for can't be easy at all, and I'm sure that call comes more than just the coach.

I don’t understand how every single forward flies the zone when we’re so shitty at getting the puck out of the D zone

<Insert generic sports coach> keeps trotting out the same losers over and over just to get pummeled.
This is pretty much every coach in every sport in the world, to be fair. Put the "best guys" on the ice/field/pitch and hope.

Those that proactively adjust and try new things are a rare breed.
