Prospect Info: Peter Holland

Honest assessment, how has Holland looked? Would he be in the AHL if Bozak and Bolland were healthy?

I don't think so, He's really only had actual ice time in 3-4 games so far and he's been great in 2-3 of those, if every1 was healthy id bet that bolland would play wing, I really do think that holland has earned a spot here

that's not accurate imo

Gliff might mean that Toronto wouldn't have made the trade.

That being said, moving Holland to the wing is something a number of us have felt was a good idea. I still think it is. He's a talented young player, and yes, there are some consistency issues, but he really didn't get the opportunity to be very consistent here. I'm hoping he plays well for you guys, and sticks around. He's a player I've long felt had top six potential, and he has a skillset that should serve him well at pivot or wing. It might be worth trying him on the wing, when you guys start to get healthy.

Yeah, the thing is that bolland is still months away, so hes going to have a real opportunity here for many months, so we'll see what it develops into

As Ducksforcup eluded to, a sixth round pick is nothing. Anything beyond a 4th actually isn't much value at all.

i realize that. i know we didnt' give up much at all but it was imo still an unnecessary cost to me. its just my opinion obvs. you never know with our scouting staff.
i jsut think theres no need for him cause maroon can do basically everything jackman can do, and has some skill

Jackman is a much better skater, hits better and plays a grittier game. Maroon has much better hands and can create offense. They are very different players. Amusingly they are equally mediocre fighters.

Aside from that a sixth is still nothing. In the history of this team we've only drafted a handful of players who turned out to be legit NHL players and almost all of them only panned out with other teams. More than that it's easy to recoup such an asset either with another pick or just signing a young free agent. We gave Calgary a nothing pick to bypass claiming him on waivers.

a toronto second to go with our two 1sts, do we also have a second pick? wowza, let the scouts work.

AHL or Lower? Etem, DSP, Theodore, Rakell, Friberg, Karlsson, Gibson, almost forgot Kerdiles for a second, and two firsts this year,
Two 2nds this year possibly as well. I almost feel bad for some teams especially when we are a top team in the league and others are struggling.

This draft is pretty weak though. Wrong draft to have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds.

No draft's too weak to have picks in if you have the right scouting staff. 2007 was a very weak draft, yet the Canadiens killed it. 2010 wasn't all that strong, but we did well(same could be argued for 2012, but that one's way too early). Hell, speaking of 2012, it was supposed to be a terrible draft to have a pick in the 6-10 range. When you have the right scouts, chances are you're gonna do well.

Some drafts end up being stronger or weaker than anticipated too.

Weak drafts also get called that ahead of time because a lack of offensive standouts.

Really. . We dont need to draft crosby. Id be happy with some big, physical defense and a stab at a 2nd line center project.

Infact, between the 2 1sts and 2 2nds, make that 2 physical d and 2 center projects.

Or just let this draft team work it.

I also think the fact that this draft is being talked about as a weak draft is part of the reason we might have 4 picks in the first two rounds. Teams are more reluctant to give up picks in drafts being hyped as high end. After all the trading down in the past though, I think we might end up in a great position moving up if needed this year.
Draisaitl would be amazing but if we keep both picks I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Ho-Sang or even Nylander if he's falling.

yeah but all it takes is another team or two really liking a player, and you can move some of those picks for the following draft. regardless 4 top 60 picks is a good opportunity to make some things happen

Yeah, but Ottawa was reluctant to give up their first. Bob played hard ball and got that first round, not second round pick for Ryan.

Trevor Smith apparently broke his hand. With Bolland and Bozak already out this is looking good for our draft pick. Holland need 11 more games.

Won`t be sure until he get`s them (11 more games). He can have injuries too
