Trotz spending all that cash for aging free agents was always going to be a mistake. This board is very emotional. He mimicked the same philosophy of Poile. Staying in a “win-now” mode for too long, holding onto a belief that they could “retool” without completely breaking things down.

When Trotz took over, it seemed like the perfect moment to fully embrace a rebuild. The predators had a lot of aging players, and the window appeared to be shut closed.
