And does that prove goalies age better than any other position like his claim?

Yeah, you can find players at every position that have played well into their 30's. I think all three positions have similar aging curves. Your rolling dice with any player on big long term deals that start in their 30's.

Maybe, but it's still a bit disingenuous to say that he's affecting the game all of those minutes.

His ice time value is probably more like a defenseman that plays A LOT.

Goalies affect the play pretty much every single second the puck is in their zone. In most games, that's going to be more than just about anyone else's TOI.

But just as importantly, ask yourself why about 20% of the highest paid players in the MLB are starting pitchers. 5 of the top-10 AAVs in baseball belong to pure starting pitchers, despite the fact that they play way less than the other players on the roster.

lol what did he say?
Welcome to Coffee Talk. Today’s topic @KirkAlbuquerque.

Probably looking for Bob contract %

What is that? And then he can ask for real dollars on top of that bc Bob is in Florida and tax is diff there.

Does he have any value now that this came out?
His value has not changed.

If you were basing his trade value on him signing a bargain contract with whatever team acquires him, despite them having no control to keep him beyond this year and no leverage, that's on you.

His value comes from his 1 year at 5.7 mill.

Moral of the story:

If you want to be paid like a top player at your position commensurate with the top “skaters” don’t be a goalie.
Kickers in the NFL get paid more percentually vs the cap than NHL goalies do. I'd say goalies are underpaid vs the value they can bring to a team as we saw with Sheshterkin.

Cap will be very close to 92.400 when Shesty's contract kicks in next year.

The top paid goalies:
Price's first year was 13.21% of the cap
Bob's was 12.27%
Vasi's was 11.66%

A few superstar forwards that seem relevant, without aiming too high:
Panarin was 14.29%
Tavares was 13.84%
Seguin was 12.09%

Given this, 13% doesn't seem that outlandish, does it?
That would essentially be 12.000 per year.

Note: I'm using percentages for when the contract kicked in, and not the cap when it was signed. There may be a discrepancy with what you find online for this reason.

He's the best goalie in the league and wants to be paid like one. In many ways, it's harder to find an elite goalie than a defenseman much less a forward. He wants his bag and I don't blame him.
Isn't getting $11M being paid the most of all goalies? Bob was what, $10.5M.

If he goes to free agency, he can only sign a 7 year and this is very likely his last contract.

11m x 8 is better than 12m x 7 and that’s assuming anyone else would sign him to more at max as a 30 year old free agent. Most of the teams with room are bottom feeders and the winning teams have their guy.

Sometimes these agents do more harm than good. Igor is either really dumb or wants out of New York and is willing to lose millions to leave.
