I feel like we romanticize the gen X era way too much. Make no mistake, that era sucked ass. Getting blown out every night, the anxiety of almost leaving town. We only look fondly on it because what it ultimately led to.
Gen X era gave a chance to a lot of players that wouldn't. For a moment a lot of those players got to live out their dream and they worked their ass off for coaches that shouldn't be coaches.

Now we get to see players that deserve a shot get shit all over, fans bitch about the players being the problem and are wrong, the players play like they don't believe in the coach.

So last night Getzoff and Bourque(?) kept talking about these Minnesota players in their "rookie" season. Does anyone know what this means? Have the Pens ever had any of these "rookies" on their roster? Do you think it would help?

You heard "rookie," but Sullivan heard "32-year-old bottom sixer with an injury history and hands of stone."

We clearly aren't going to win anything with this team so they might as well try to pump up Crosby's numbers and get let him earn another ppg season.

I have no problems accepting losing. It's just the cycle of hockey and sports, but I think we're all just infuriated that the one thing that could change of all 70000 things that have changed hasnt yet.

Gotta give it four more near-total roster turnovers and at least 3 more GMs, bud.

They need to "assess." Almost a decade isn't enough.

That's my issue with the whole thing. When Geno struggled, they did absolutely nothing to get him going. But the moment Simple Sid does, his dumb ass needs all the help.
Always been like that with Sullivan. Some winger/s been looking awesome and killing it with Geno? Better take them off his line and never put them there again. 2nd line has been sucking *ss for two mouth straight? Better not change a thing. Everyone will blame Geno anyways. 🙃 Sid's line struggling? Better do something.

People act like we had some insane youth that time. When really we had - Archibald, Wilson, Kuhnhackl, etc up as well. Youth. We have that now. But he's wanting none of that and when he does he uses them like shit.

Don't know how many more ways to say it's f***ing Sullivan that's the issue before we all lose our f***ing minds.
Pens historically being such an injury prone team played a part in all of this. Those guys, along with Rust and Sheary brought that young energy and speed on the table. But we all know Sullivan's history with playing/trusting young players.

I think it's easier to give a shit about a team that's trying its best but sucks than it is to give a shit about a team intent on ruining the final decade of two generational talents. That's why a lot of us don't remember XGen Pens hockey as this era of pure misery. From 2019 onward, this Sullivan era hasn't been nearly as bad results-wise, but they've somehow managed to be so intensely unlikable through incompetence and arrogance that it boggles the mind.
