Koivunen played 17:28, McGroarty played 16:57. Only Sid, Rakell, and Rust played more.
There's a reason the stands are barely 2/3 full, and it's not just because of all the losing. Even when they win, it's a chore to watch.I appreciate that Sullivan actually played the kids…but my god was that a horrible brand of hockey…I’d like to see them playing something more fun…
The Pens played a credible game, THAT was the issue beyond the fact that the Sens played their 4th game in six days.Yep.
Glad he got a goal in it.
All that young fire power and Ottawa couldn't score a goal in 60 minutes on Jarry.
Missed this one. What did he do well out there?
Has been for 5 years now. This board is dead compared to what it was in 2018.There's a reason the stands are barely 2/3 full, and it's not just because of all the losing. Even when they win, it's a chore to watch.
Good game by Jarry with a nice shutout. So next game is Thursday so will the Pens send the youngers back to WBS? Or leave them up here to practice and play the next game?
That has more to do with the Internet changing and the forum crowd getting older/having other obligations in life than with the team itself.Has been for 5 years now. This board is dead compared to what it was in 2018.
You're making the mistake of only looking at the teams below us. The Ducks are only ONE point ahead, they have games in hand but no guarantees there. Islanders have 74 points but have lost five in a row. Not out of the question we could pass them up. Have you seen the Wings schedule? Toughest schedule left of any team and they're only up by three. These two points could mean the difference between drafting 6-8 or 11-12th.View attachment 1002960
People really need to chill out with the "we can't win any games" idea. The difference in point% between the #4 pick and the #8 pick right now is insanely small, with Buffalo and Philly getting super hot recently (Philly after firing Tortorella) and Seattle hovering around .500. Winning a single game isn't the end of the world.
Based on point%, they're about 1 point ahead of the Bruins and Sabres right now and 2 points ahead of the Flyers and Kraken. The Penguins could reasonably go .500 for the rest of the year and still get jumped in the standings by Philly and Buffalo, giving them the #6 pick.

Again, don't just look at the teams below us, the teams right above us are struggling also.
You apparently don't understand how this works. Drafting sixth as opposed to 9th or 10 in this particular draft IS potentially a big deal! And if you don't think there's real potential there to pass up the Wings with their schedule and the fact that we play chi town B2B That's what's silly. There's a decided drop off after the top 8. Pretty much everyone knows this,The Ducks are 1 point ahead of the Penguins while having 3 games in hand on them. The Islanders are 3 points ahead of the Penguins while having 2 games in hand on them. The Wings are also 3 points ahead of the Penguins while having 2 games in hand on them. Based on point%, those 3 teams are about 4-5 points ahead of the Penguins. The Penguins are closer to 4th overall than 9th overall right now.
Crying about the Penguins winning a game as if it's the end of the world is silly. The Penguins are 6-4-1 since the deadline, do you know how that has moved their draft position? From 6th to 8th. And that 6th to 8th is more about the Bruins and Flyers collapsing than the Penguins rising dramatically in the standings.

They're free to stay here for the rest of the season. They got called up cuz the Baby Pens clinched a playoff spot. The last WBS game is April 19th, 2 days after the parent club finishes.Good game by Jarry with a nice shutout. So next game is Thursday so will the Pens send the youngers back to WBS? Almost definitely picking 6-8th? Based on what exactly? You clearly haven't looked at the schedules of each of these respective teams. The Penguins have 7 games left and are effectively 5 points behind the Red Wings in the standings. They have to win 3 more games than the Red Wings over a 7 game span to jump them in the standings. The only way that happens is if Detroit goes like 1-8 or 2-7 in their last 9 games. It's a ridiculous thing to be worried about.
Not only that, but there is effectively a marginal difference in this draft beyond the top-4. Whether the Penguins are picking 6th or 8th hardly matters. Desnoyers, McQueen, Eklund, Frondell and O'Brien are all basically on the same tier as prospects.
They're almost definitely going to pick 6th, 7th or 8th in the draft. Freaking out about getting a win because "what if a team above us loses out and we jump them and fall to 10th overall!" is incredibly dumb.
Why would it assure that? Anaheim has three games in hand on the Pens and are a point ahead. Isles and Wings have three more points than the Pens and two games in hand. After BUF and Phil won we had to go and ruin it! Bos has lost eight in a row, they're tanking. This win almost assures us a pick above nine or 10. And for what? MOTHERf***ERS!
Look at the Wings schedule, then look at our schedule. Isles have lost five in a row.Why would it assure that? Anaheim has three games in hand on the Pens and are a point ahead. Isles and Wings have three more points than the Pens and two games in hand.
So it's unlikely the Pens climb much higher than 8th. Maybe 9th is on the table if Anaheim collapses. Detroit and the Isles are trying to make the playoffs so unlikely they totally tank.

Did you know a couple weeks back the Bruins were eight points up on us?
To act as if we can't pass up the Wings, Ducks or Isles is just mindlessly stupid!
Where you're being absurdly and miraculously naive is only looking at teams below us. DET will be underdogs every game the rest of the season. They aren't effectively five points clear of us, they are now three points ahead of us with the toughest schedule in the league! Isles have lost five straight and who knows what happens with the Ducks. We may or may not pass one or more of them up, but to act as if it's not a strong possibility defies logic.
The Ducks are up by ONE point and right now trail early against the leafs. The Wings and Islanders are up on us by three. You can't assume they'll win those games in hand. Do I think we'll pass up all three? Highly unlikely. Do I think we'll pass up one of them up? Very likely.Based on the fact that the Penguins have 7 games left and are 4-5 points behind the 3 teams ahead of them.
Yes, if the Red Wings absolutely collapse the Penguins could jump them in the standings. There is no reason to think that's very likely to happen, though.
