This is one of the reasons why I can't see a quick retool being possible. The forwards can be refilled quicker, but it's literally 5 NHL level defenseman and 2 much better NHL quality goalies needed.

I don't think there is any defenseman on this team that I would want on a contender.

Karlsson's only passable if you have a stud defense around him. The rest either suck or are completely washed up.

Agreed, and I think it's too soon to ask Pickering and ?Brunicke? (Can't remember how to spell his name) To be apart of a serious contender.
