Dan Bylsma would have that roster in a playoff spot comfortably. I will always maintain, that the roster is mediocre for sure but a good coach will get more out of it while a mediocre coach will not and Sullivan has been propped up as this great coach because he's the only yank to win 2 cups as a coach, almost a decade ago mind you.

Imagine being propped up for that almost a decade later with jack shit to show for it since and everyone blames everything and everyone else to deflect from Sullivan being a mediocre coach.

I still laugh that he f***ed over his own son in law and then healthy scratched Connor, his entire game plan vs Canada destroyed the health of his roster and somehow got zero heat for any of it and then he comes back to the Pens and continues being an absolute joke of a coach while everyone wanks off to how he's the only American coach to win 2 cups, lmao.

The team doesn't lack speed.

It lacks a system that allows them to make quicker decisions with the puck. They have games where they look quick when Sullivan on rare occasions makes adjustments, then he reverts back to his normal shit and the team looks slow again.

Even players the Pens have traded for that failed under Sully were complained about being not quick and then they leave and look just fine.

When you second guess, you hesitate and play slower, why would you go 100% when you aren't sure? That's what this team is. They aren't some insane fast team but they're not slow, they play slow because the system makes zero sense to them and then they get blamed for not executing the genius Sullivan's system.

Geno is fine at C when he's not dragging Glass and Heinen around. Just having Rakell back with Geno is a huge boost in quality of linemates.

He’s a bigger fraud than Bylsma, yes I agree.
