Post-Game Talk: Pens vs Oilers: Ned shuts the Door

Not trading Rakell soon will leap into the top 5 dumbest decisions made by a Pens GM within a couple of years from now.
Agreed, I posted it in the other thread. I mean let's be honest, if a team came calling at the start of the season for Raks and offered a 3rd round pick, we would have all been ecstatic. For me it's not only about the return, but more moving the next 3 years of that contract knowing that he is turning 32 in May.

I'd be intrigued to see what would be offered for him!!

In actuality, Sniper is having fun messing around with settings while we await fixes for all of the HFboards templates. Enjoy it while it lasts, I highly doubt it will be around more than a day or two.
I take it that means there will be a lot more fine tuning with the looks of this place coming soon? Font sizing and spacing is mess.

That will be a hindsight view though. Right now, he's hot with Sid and Rust. The goal of the team is to win still. This won't be a tear down to the studs while Sid is here. I could see them trading him in the last year. And say his value is a 1st right now, if they trade him for the 3rd at the TDL of his last year, I imagine there will be full acknowledgement that they gave up value in order to keep him and they will be fine with that given they kept him to play with Sid.

We can go back on a several guys and say "damn we should have traded him" because we didn't win anything.
Last post made by ×××× in forum section would be nice. That disappeared.
The thread search function coming back would be nice.

25/30+ goal scorers don't grow on trees. A 3rd for Rakell who had a down year due to a bum shoulder is freaking terrible. People looking at his term as bad when he's clearly being paid less than his worth actually holds more value than Pettersson. Rakell is worth a 1st + roster player/B-level prospect. That's Rakell at 32/33/34 at 5.0 per. 25/30 goal scorer when others in his range make a lot more.

do we need to care about how much money is left and for how long, though? We're not hurting for cap space, if we are, let's move one of the bottom-6 door knobs, and once the core is gone, we should be eating a ton of bad contracts anyhow.

I'm all for moving someone like Petts, because I think he has a lot of value, I don't want to re-sign him right now, and I think we can replace most of what he does internally. We don't have much in the way of scoring forwards in the pipeline.

Had you traded Rakell for a third, you would be selling low and that is what you should never do. This is a player with a career-high 34 goals, so no I would not have been ecstatic.

This is ridiculous. Even if you strip it down, you need players to fill out a roster. And every rebuilding team that had stripped it down in recent years has turned around and added a bunch of veterans to fill out the roster. Rakell is a player that is finally playing where he should have been all along...next to Crosby. Guentzel should have been with Malkin. We had to trade Guentzel (apparently) for Sullivan to figure this out.

I am not trading Rakell because Rakell helps Crosby a ton, and the mandate is to maintain competitiveness while Crosby is an active player on this team. Trading Rakell now is throwing in the towel, and we are clearly not throwing in the towel.

Glad we won

The Oilers and their crybaby fanbase can eat shit through a straw
Lol yeah I took a peek at their board and the whining by some of their fans is hilarious. Also some of the trash talk was funny too for a franchise that hasn't won a cup since 1990.

I respect McDavid and he's a tremendous player and I hope he wins one day but the way some of their fans act I'd be happier if he did it in another jersey.

I doubt we're getting .930 goaltending regularly...
830 seems more likely than that with Ned and Tj lol
