Like I understand what Shirey is going for here but I don't think it's really as effective an argument as he's thinking. If this is some kind of defense of FSG then it rings a bit hollow, too. Mario and co. weren't meddling owners in my estimation but they would have done SOMETHING by now. FSG seems fine just kicking back and watching the shitshow gain momentum.
