Glidin’ RustNah, he probably just quits on plays now.

Oh it sucked. But it sucked less than it normally does.
And yeah I seriously don't understand the lack of using Rakell there.
That's just what they'll be expecting us to do.Why is our leading goal scorer after Sid and Jake not on the PP?
Like Sully says, he’s loyal to his guys - Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Rust.Oh it sucked. But it sucked less than it normally does.

My beef is with Reirden on this one. Rust back on that unit? How did he think that was a good idea?I’m so tired of Sullivan. D pairings to start the game suck ass because of Dumo. He swaps them up and suddenly amazing. Rust kills everything on the PP and top six. Guess what
Happens
McGinn Carter Rust would be interesting.Put Rust on L3. Move Kap up so he can maybe get some points and confidence back.
Giving him 70% D-zone starts is not the way to get the best outta him.
Don't see the harm in trying at all, with L2 going a bit cold and Rust being shit.
Would send a good message too. Accountability over seniority.
Rust is so bad right now. I have no idea why he is getting minutes especially when Kapanen has a give a shit attitude tonight.
I think Sullivan wants to let Rust play his way out of this. And I get it, Rust has a good track record. But man we're into December now. We can't wait all f***ing year for him to get going.Like Sully says, he’s loyal to his guys - Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Rust.

No excuse to not use Rakell there or....anyone else.
I'm not remotely as negative on Sullivan as most here but the PP is his biggest blind spot right now for sure.
Thing is I would do what made Rust comfortable, I would start using him on the PK more to get his momentum up where he used to thrive the most, then get Rakell on the powerplay. You put a struggling player in a position to succeed by building up their confidence in what they were good when another area isn’t working, in this instance, Rust was a strong PK player that now rarely gets used there. It’d be a nice way to boost his confidence and get him wanting the goals more.I think Sullivan wants to let Rust play his way out of this. And I get it, Rust has a good track record. Of course it is. He's in charge of the PP. He formulates the tactics. He holds the video meetings and instructs at practice. He requests personnel changes. It isn’t on Reirden dude lol
back in time when we had a coach, that coach would drop Rust down to third until he finds his mojo, it was almost an automatic move,I think Sullivan wants to let Rust play his way out of this. Sullivan lets his assistants handle their own jobs. That's why a head coach has assistants, to help him.
If he can't do it then he shouldn't be here.

Not a bad idea. I think I'd just give Rust PP2 time where he can think less and be the guy that the PP flows through.Thing is I would do what made Rust comfortable, I would start using him on the PK more to get his momentum up where he used to thrive the most, then get Rakell on the powerplay. Putting him in spots he’s already struggling in isn’t showing him anything but “Yeah it’ll happen, keep playing poorly there in the mean time.“
how could that not work? Zucker get there instead of JakeNot a bad idea. I think I'd just give Rust PP2 time where he can think less and be the guy that the PP flows through.
Meanwhile try Rakell on pp1. If that doesn't work, try Zucker.
Reirden may be the main tactician but the head coach is responsible to step in when his staff is failing.Of course it is. He's in charge of the PP. He formulates the tactics. He holds the video meetings and instructs at practice. He requests personnel changes.

man, you are losing it, whats next 4.5% pilsnerCracked open an 8% beer.
We've literally seen Reirden doing this job in In the Room. We've heard Sullivan talking about how Reirden manages the PP. We have heard Reirden in training camp talking about the PP.Whatever you need to pretend is happening. Weird how we never hear Reirden talking the Powerplay in post games. It’s the head coach.
That's for when all the guests come over.man, you are losing it, whats next 4.5% pilsner
