I'm not saying they would set the league on fire or anything but why Tomasino isn't regularly skating on Malkin's RW is completely beyond my understanding. They seem to make something happen every time they get half a shift together. Though I didn't watch this one so maybe they started cycling him up there as the game went on IDK.

On a deeper team I could understand wanting to have him provide L3 with a little offense but on THIS team I don't understand the logic. I mean... I know... Sullivan. But still.

Nice to see Geno put up a 4 point game, tanking be damned. Might be the last time that happens so pretty cool. Extra nice because Flyers.
nope just a broken shift

Out of players averaging 1:30 or more of PP time a game, Tomasino is #1 on the team in P/60. A viable option for left wall next year on the 1st unit, given he's a right shot. The hope is Rakell and Rust get dealt. They're not really PP1 material. Wouldn't take much to outplay them.

At even-strength Tomasino's been okay, production-wise. Acceptable 3rd liner rate. But for the cost of a 4th, with an 825k cap hit and control of his rights beyond this season...you gotta call this a Dubas W so far.
We need a bigger sample still, but it's a solid start, no question.

I like to think I'm objective so y'know, please educate me here but was the Imama hit really all that bad? i watched in a number of times and it was obviously blindside and interference so if they had decided to punish it more severely I'd have found that fine but it looked kind of tame in retrospect. No head contact, barely any violence to it. Bad result, not bad intent.

Tomasino is the exact kind of player we should be taking chances on. The problem is, Boston O'Dingleberry refuses to put these players in a position where they may succeed and develop. God forbid a youngish guy with a little bit of offensive talent get some playing time with Sid or Geno.

Think about it logically; a player like that might make a mistake that leads to a goal against. That's a risk you simply cannot take as a bottom 5 team in the league.

I actually think how Tomasino is being used on L3 is an appropriate role for him. His future in the NHL is an offensive driver for L3 and a PP2 threat, and I think he's doing really well in that role this year. I don't think he's really top-6 caliber from what I've seen but he's a really nice offensive piece for the 3rd line.

Right now he should be playing with Malkin simply because they don't have a better RW option, but I think Tomasino as a 3rd line RW is most suited for his skillset and ability.

Looking to next year, I'm really liking the possibility of a Hallander-Lizotte/Hayes/Pono-Tomasino line. I think a duo of Hallander and Tomasino complements each of them well.

This equipment is smaller that the 90s, too

I remember 20 years ago when people complained about guys like Giguere and Luongo with the Koho 580 & 590 pads and gloves apparently looking gigantic. Gear had shrunk from the 90's and it has shrunk even more from the 2000's and people are still saying the same things. Maybe they would prefer lacrosse goalie gear be worn???

In the eyes of Birthday Boy Mike Sullivan, Tomasino is just a mere rookie. Doesn't play the game the right way yet, so he doesn't kill penalties and there is no way he is getting more that 3rd line 10 min a night usage. Maybe in 5-10 years he will have improved to 2nd line 12-13 min a night usage under Birthday Boy Mike Sullivans tutelage.

I was at the game yesterday and of course some Pens fans had a "18,000 days since the last Flyers Cup" sign. A Flyers fan took great offense to it and was yelling at them. Had to resort to "when's your last Super Bowl?!?!". What a f***ing loser that guy is.
