There is literally no guarantee to finish top 5 giving how shit other teams are and there is absolutely no way to finish bottom 3 this year even if they sold anyone at the TDL. If you can’t pick a very good player at 5-8 you stink.I'll be happy when ownership and management are paving the way for a Cup, not pushing to become a bubble team for the next 10-20 years.
Glad for the kids though. Nice to see more players play with hunger and hope. That's how sports should be.
This situation is not on them. They're just doing their jobs.
But they stick together, they're fighting for a common and very noble cause. They compete! What really sucks is that Letang contract is 35+ with a NMC. Another Hextall special.

Time to start convincing myself that Desnoyers or Eklund are actually better than the Pens landing 5th and potentially snagging a guy like Martone or Hagens if they fall a couple spots.![]()

He’d probably still be useful if he was given appropriate minutes. The guy behind the bench still likes to use him likes he’s an elite #1 Dman. What really sucks is that Letang contract is 35+ with a NMC. Another Hextall special.
If we stay where we are or pick 6th or 7th I'm perfectly fine with that. We will get a good player. With how Boston is tumbling, I don't think it's possible that we could have landed 5th.
But, there is still a chance if Kraken, Philly, and BUF start winning out.
It's not about one pick for me. It's about the direction in general that is turning me off. That's why I'm skipping a good chunk of games for the first time since watching 82 Pens games a year was even possible in my area. There is literally no guarantee to finish top 5 giving how shit other teams are and there is absolutely no way to finish bottom 3 this year even if they sold anyone at the TDL. I hope so cause we are stuck with him. I’ve always been a fan of his, but I’m worried he looks absolutely cooked. He does that weird skating around a few steps behind the play partially hunched over with his hands straight down and stick off the ice all the time, like all he is thinking about is cross checking someone. It really looks like there is something wrong with him. Hopefully he’s been hurt all season and an offseason to recover and limiting him to 15 or so minutes a night next year will workHe’d probably still be useful if he was given appropriate minutes. They are going to pass on 1sts for Karlsson, EK, and Rakell. That is way more damaging than losing a few spots in the draft. They're gonna trade 2nds and 3rds for roster players, trying to force accelerate a re-tool with an ancient core.
And what will we get out of keeping those guys? Those players will play out their contracts, stay to the end of their career or leave. Will they help us win a series before they're gone? Almost certainly not.
They will get us more points in the standings at a time when we should be tanking for McKenna, and future top picks.
1st round picks should be the organization's #1 focus right now, above even Crosby's wants/needs. They have to secure the future.
They would have finished bottom 5 (standings-wise) if they traded Rakell though. I believe that.
He's over point per game since the deadline. The only thing keeping him accomplished is securing Crosby's point per game record.
I don't feel like that should be a top priority.
I’m not going to give him credit. It took years of the media and fans yelling at him to do it.Are we prepared to have the conversation about Sullivan almost immediately using two young, inexperienced, players in high leverage situations?
And when he reverts back to the same old Sully next year and people question why he's not playing the young guys again, he'll point to these 10 meaningless games as evidence to why everybody is wrong....I guess it's an improvement over pointing to what he did a decade ago.I’m not going to give him credit. im leaning into this fear 'ruhwedel thinks hes bobby orr!'McGroarty needs to change his number. Every time I see him I go into a panic mode for a second - "We got f***ing Ruhwedel back?!?"
Also, of course now we come back from two goals done where there is no pressure whatsoever and in fact there is incentive to lose as much as possible. It's cool that Sully is playing the kids but I will remain unconvinced until he does it in games that actually matter.
Seeing the Blues break team records because they had the good sense to change their coach is also rather bittersweet.
