We have 2 defensemen. TWO! Our 2nd and 3rd pair are not good enough.
We have first liners that take weeks off.
We have Zib and Bread that have the capability to be elite up front, and Fox back there. When they have off nights (which happens to everyone) we lose, every time. That is not a playoff team. Look at Edmonton, they sucked balls for years with McDavid and Drai being better than everyone else. We have years to go before we get lucky and sneak in.

Adam Fox is the bright spot.
Our second D-pair is fine. Buchnevich and Strome are close to PPG players. Somehow before today we were 8th in point differential with Mika's Covid, Panarin's absence, and Shesterkin's injury. The Rangers are far better than you make them out to be. Trotz would have this team where the Islanders are now.

If it all wen't well, I agree. But not like the other teams are facing adversity, and what were the predictions before the season.
Our goal differential is propped up by us smashing Phila twice and Pitt once. It is an illusion.
Trotz couldh't slide in, this year, and make this a playoff team. He could mold it in a year or two to compete hard everynight, but no, we are not better than anyone in front of us.
With a good coach and healthy? They're on par with anyone in the division other than maybe Pittsburgh and I don't think Pittsburgh's roster is great I just think they have our number. BTW, Boston is a complete one line team. Every f***ing team not named Tampa or Colorado has warts and many of them that are in playoff position have more warts than us but don't have a f***ing moron behind the bench.

This coaching staff strikes me as not truly knowing why they lost and sometimes why they won. The lack of progress and putting it all together is evident.
If it wasn't for those games where the team scored more than they allowed they would have a lower goal differential! Brilliant observation! Let's take out all of the blowouts that teams have or do we only do that for the Rangers?

Dude, Boston the amazing cup contenders have ONE f***ing line, even their fans say so. Yet you only focus on the weaknesses of the Rangers. BTW, our "one D pairing" prior to today had us 12th in league in defense despite having some of the worst backup goaltending in the league and Shesterkin being out.

I think we could make it in next year and luck will have nothing to do with it. What will have plenty to do with it is, new coach, adding talent and depth like Lundkvist, Barron, maybe Robertson or Reunanen, full year of Kravs, and another year of experience for Kakko, Laf, Chytil, Miller. Thats also not including any trade possibilities as well.
I mean, the salt is flowing from your negativity tubes right now expecting wins and playoffs. My expectations have been properly managed. Two years.

Inconsistency is fine. What’s not fine is poor effort. When the kids have a shit game you can understand. But Zibby, Kreids, trouba, panarin, etc all we’re terrible. With shitty efforts to boot. Zibby and Chytil missing wide open nets was a signal this game was gonna be in the toilet. Smith at least fought. Shesty was not sharp. He kept the game at 3-1 long enough to try and mount a comeback. I don’t care if we lose. I do when it looks like playing the game is an inconvenience for multi millionaire players. When we lost to the capitals at least you saw effort.
