They can't win when it matters and their seasons on the line. Like Chicago two years ago. But when nothing is on the line they storm back down 2-0 and beat a good Devils team.

You can't make this stuff up.

If Pittsburgh had a reporter worth anything they would ask Rust, "if winning at the end of a season means anything then why did the hot streak to end last season not help prevent you all from being one of the worst teams in the first quarter of this season?"

Aside from Sid and Geno….we’ve been such an unlikeable group of vanilla losers for years.

Where are the character guys who’d step up when needed?? The Cullens, or a Kunitz, or an Old Man Guerin??

I miss that.

Hell, even Max Talbot’s 4th line ass had infinitely more spark than these current bums.

We were blessed to have such competitive superstars for 2 decades, the price for that is that they still don't like to lose when they're approaching 40. It is what it is. Just hope Boston pulls out the regulation win next game.

I agree they should be trying to lose, but I think you're blaming the wrong people getting mad a poor Rust there.

The players aren't going to try to lose (unless they're sick of a coach named Therrien, Byslma, Johnston...).

You should be blaming the true villain in all this, Dubas.

If Dubas was half the forward thinker good ole Eddie J. was back in the day, he would've called up Geno's 3rd cousin, twice removed fresh out of the mines from back in Magnetawhatever, smuggle him into the country, strap him in goalie pads, and start him every game the rest of the season.

If it's the players, no way. Those guys were bad enough that they came by their 16-58-6 record honestly. And really, why would players -- especially centers, in the case of that particular group -- lose intentionally so that their employer could get in position to bring in someone who would be more a threat to take their job?

Management, however, made a number of personnel moves that made it possible for the Penguins to slip past New Jersey and into last place in the overall standings as the season was winding down.

Also, there was an instance when goalie Roberto Romano had the temerity to string together a couple of strong starts late in the season, at which point general manager Ed Johnston sent him to the Penguins' farm team in Baltimore and brought up goalie Vincent Tremblay because "we want to see what he can do." What the front office almost certainly realized was that the list of things that Tremblay could do -- or at least, that he could do well -- at that point in his career did not include stopping hockey pucks with any regularity.

Tremblay, it should be noted, didn't disappoint. He went 0-4, with a 6.00 goals-against average, in what proved to be his final four appearances in the NHL.

Except he got fired for doing it for Bylsma and Dan didn’t nearly fail as hard and long as a f***ing :eek::eek::eek::eek: piece of shit like Mike Sullivan has and Mike isn’t even remotely on the hot seat.

Those rumours back then was some bs about Sid giving up on Disco and being mad. So now Sid is complacent because what? Sullivan tucks his bitch ass in with the best wingers so he doesn’t care? They make it seem like Sid is keeping Sully there and it really f***ing frustrates me.

Such a f***ing joke of a franchise.

Well they’ll probably be playing to an empty barn in 1-2 years once Sid and Geno hang ‘em up.

Quite frankly the org deserves it too…after anchoring themselves to Sullivan and Dumbass and Jarry for 1000000 years.

And smugly and stubbornly refusing to change. It’s been years of this shit…
