Because the league doesn't have to answer any questions about why we are playing. We don't care, we don't have enough fans to make enough noise for the league to care, and that also means there isn't going to be any monetary implications for letting us continue. I'm sure the league figures "Just let the garbage teams with small fanbases get as many games complete as possible so we have more flexibility with the teams we shut down when they come back."
