Also it's kinda funny to me that the general sentiment is "Tomasino/Glass/DOC on L2 WTF?!?" but then the idea of "maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder by the TDL for some help if they are in the mix?" is proffered up and everyone is like "NO WAY WE'RE REBUILDING!!!"

Yeah. I can see how that would totally derail this amazing rebuild journey they are clearly well into, now.

Are ya'll sure you aren't thinking of the NFL here?

I don't mind DOC back on L2. Dude needs to get going offensively and that ain't happening with Lizotte and Beauvillier.

Why is it 38 year old, blowed-out Malkin's job to "get everyone going" all the time?

Isn't he some pushin' 40 duncecap-wearing riverboat gambler who failed out of "plays the right way" school according to his own coach, anyhow? Why are we tasking him with bringing along every single misfit toy?

I'm not being a jackass. Anymore than usual. This has been a question I've had for a while.

Without any snark, I think Geno's the "get the other guy(s) going" guy because he's shown he's willing and capable of doing it. The old "never be too good at your job because they'll take advantage of you" thing.

Sid's notoriously anal about who he's willing to play with. Dude refuses to adapt or adjust his approach and that narrows down a lot of who can/will work on his line. Geno's much more pliable.

If that's the idea then the coach needs to check the date because I can't remember the last time that actually bore any fruit.

It also seems awfully convenient and I'm sure that's at least partially the idea.

It's like convincing your kid to take out the trash then being like "WOWEEE YOU'RE SO GOOD AT THAT, PAL!"

Crosby started the year with Beauvillier.

Malkin started the year with Bunting and Rakell.

Bunting fell off a cliff so they cycled around from there and until they found Rakell - Crosby - Rust, nothing was working.

I’m not sure what exactly you want them to do? They’ve won like 9 of their last 12 games largely on the back of the first line and have tried Malkin with pretty much every forward we have. Rust when he returned from injury was with Geno.

Well this team's pretty stuck in the past and clueless so, yeah, that checks out.

Hey man they've tried everything they can and crazy enough they landed on "juice the first line with the only three guys left on the team that can score" yet again for like the eighth year running and they tend to score. Wild. You can't break that up.

If you don't have a coach that makes those kinda paradigm shifting decisions, you'll have to find a coach that makes those paradigm shifting decisions.

This reads like a ZAR defense post in 2020.

You know I was just joking at first but I checked both players stats and ZAR is having a better season than DOC.

Hilarious.

One without the benefit of quite a bit of ice with the top dogs.
