Oh also... I told you guys Pickering was this team's best prospect.
Me voting Broz the last few years and people saying Tankov and Koivunen have more potential.

Tankov DOES have more potential.
He has ALL the potentials!
As soon as he figures out the whole "get out of the Russian minor leagues" thing he's gonna take this league by storm.
Honestly Koivunen is doing a lot better than I expected in the AHL.
He could be the next Puustinen for us lol
And how does the team demonstrate that they support that? By not trading everyone of value away. That's not an unfair guess, except it goes against literally EVERYTHING he's ever said, what the organization is saying, and what reporters are saying.
I have no idea how many times the cycle of:
Crosby: I'm fully committed to finishing my career in Pittsburgh. That's important to me.
Org: He wants to finish his career here and we support that.
I think Sid will be fine with losing, as long as there is an attempt of some kind made to not lose. There's a difference between probably never playing in the playoffs again, and it being a given.Reporters: Yeah, Sid wants to stay in Pittsburgh.
*team loses a game*
Fans on HFB: Sid doesn't want to stick around. He wants a trade!
has to be done before people accept reality.

True, but because we're old, not because we're tearing everything down and the team has given up on trying to make it work.Oh it's a given.

I saw it as a 'retool' move, not a 'rebuild' move.I would absolutely call taking on the likes of Kevin Hayes for a nothing draft pick a pretty fair indicator that they are done trying.
Unless you think that they truly saw that as a wise roster move. Then they are just morons and as a result are done trying by virtue of incompetence.

The 2nd Round pick was originally a 2025 pick that was punted to 2026 when St. Louis wanted it back. So we have a 3rd in 2025 and a 2nd in 2026.What is the team re-tooling with Kevin Hayes and/or a 2nd round pick in 2027?
I'm not even trying to be mean, here. But I'm sorry taking on dead weight like Hayes and the bloated cap hit that comes with him is more or less shouting to the mountaintops that you quit.

Further, Hayes will have some sort of trade value next season when there is only one year on his deal.
Further, I don't agree that a 2nd is a nothing pick. For instance, the Hurricanes drafted Sebastian Aho with a 2nd, and he made the NHL as a teenager the next season. The Lightning drafted Kucherov in the 2nd, though it took him longer to become noteworthy than Aho. Nonetheless, getting a 2nd for only two years of bad cap is not a bad move at all.

Wait…Hayes still has more years left on his deal? Holy f***.
Well yeah.... you didn't think Kyle Dubas was gonna get one of those gold-plated future 2nd round picks for a one year stint of heinous hockey and blocking young players who are far better did you?
Also yeah like I keep saying this whole "build and flip" concept is cool and all aside from the fact that all the players are actively losing value on this team.
Beauvillier producing beyond the top line is honestly shocking.
Kinda funny that he's still only on pace for 30 pts given how certain Pens media and posters around here talk him up like he's going to put up 25 goals and 40+ pts.
Kevin Hayes is 6'5". We live in a world where a GM gave up a 1st for Ben Chiarot. Kevin Hayes will return an asset of some kind if he's traded.Kevin Hayes will not have trade value next season. He's on pace for 26 points after putting up 29 and is making 3.5 million dollars.
He will play every game he is healthy for next season over a young player though!
You let the players determine the direction of the team. If the 'retool' works better than expected, you might find yourself buying sooner than you'd think. This is very unlikely to happen of course, but if it did, I wouldn't call it confusing to buy in such a situation. If Dubas turns right around and buys at the deadline then he might truly be one of the most confused GMs in this team's history. Because both moves in the same season paint the picture of a GM who has no plan or direction.
