It's amazing that Acciari is as effective as he is being such a poor skater. I mean I will say the guy does battle hard and he is pretty smart positionally and with his stick. He'd probably be a useful 4th liner or 13th forward on an actually good team.

On our team I just get annoyed that he's blocking youth though

No, a 1st for MP28.
That discussion was centered around player+3rd for Hoglander, not including Pettersson. ie, Acciari+3rd for Hoglander. Or DOC/Lizotte+3rd for Hoglander.
Really dont want Hoglander, but wouldnt surprise me at all if all Dubas can muster for Pettersson is Hoglander + something not a 1st round pick

At an insane outlier shooting rate of 20%. Basically double of what he shot at for the rest of his 240 game career so far. Big pass on the little guy and his stupid contract.

Can we please just clear out players and actually play our own young guys
You're right, 20% is a tad high but he also did this while on the 3rd and 4th line. If you're getting top-line minutes for 82 games, shooting at an outlier of 20%, and only muster 24, then yeah, it's fine to be a tad skeptical.

I am 100% fully expecting Dubas to not get a 1st round pick return for Pettersson.

I wouldn't expect it either, not because it's Dubas but because a 1st rounder for Pettersson is a super aggressive ask. It's not impossible but it's pretty unlikely.

Hoglander, Mynio and a 2025 2nd for Pettersson is more in line with what I'd expect the Pettersson trade to end up looking like.

Truthfully, I'm not all that enamored with Hoglander. Now, if it's a buy low sorta thing, sure. But McGoarty should be ready by next season. How many wingers do we need?

VAN doesn't have much cap space, therefore we might have to retain. That should jack up the price. I don't see a 1st though.

Feels like he's going to get moved in a Hoglander deal at some point. Hopefully with a 2nd attached to it coming our way.
Absolutely at a minimum need a 2hd coming back.

Of course.

I dunno though I mean Vancouver just makes too much sense for a MP location. They could use him, the JR connection, etc.

I don't think it happens soon though. Not unless the Pens nosedive right back into a tank this week.

It would suck if the Pens play themselves into a wild card spot over the next few weeks and end up keeping MP. Feels like that scenario isn't unlikely. I don't see how Dubas could justify selling off pieces if they're in the hunt.

Vancouver makes sense but the cap and players mention just don't make a deal work. Edmonton may have as much a need but again hard to mix and match here. But Dubas will move him as he knows extending him with Pickering and Shea plus a couple up and commers to work with. Graves is pretty much here for this year and probably next with that term.

Chiarot got a 1st in 2023, Henrique a 1st in 2024, Hanifin a 1st in 2024, Lindholm a 1st in 2024. It's still very common.
My bad. If Henrique could bring a 1st MP should be able to as well especially with retention. With Hanifin or Lindholm I could certainly see it. Not sure I'd put MP in that class however.

Although a package with a 2hd and prospect seems more likely to me.

He's the best dman available along with Provorov, and apparently the ask for Provorov is a 1st. I think Dubas is probably going to go the route of something like Hoglander + a 2nd though.

Tanev was only traded for Grushnikov and a 2nd for Tanev when they traded him and I think that's the most apples to apples comparison we have for a Pettersson trade. I know some people were very high on Grushnikov, but Wheeler was pretty low on him and he hasn't exactly lit it up since the trade.

I'd expect around that tier of return for Pettersson. That's why I think the Hoglander, Mynio and a 2nd for Pettersson suggestion is pretty accurate.

I'd bet the deal ends up being Puljujarvi and a 3rd if it ends up happening. Close to even salary swap and it has the Penguins moving a guy that Sullivan seemingly doesn't want to play.

People will be mad that they traded Puljujarvi when he should be playing (which is 100% true), but if Puljujarvi isn't going to play, what's the point of keeping him?
I wouldn’t be mad because Hoglander is a better player than Puljujarvi.

But what if all the young guys have already been ruined?

Unless you get around a Tomasino price I really don’t want Hoglander.
Would rather use the 3 mil in free agency to get comparable player to Hoglander or use it get a true 2nd pair LHD or use it for another Glass deal and add picks.

My gut tells me in 4 years Hoglander will get signed as a UFA for 1-2M for 1-2 years as a 3rd line forward. Like a Beauvillier but a tad better.
