Holy hell. What is wrong with you people? I say 1 thing that's not 100% critical of Sullivan (after calling for his head for 5 years....and still calling for his head actually), and all I get is "Yeah, but what about this? Or that?"

Talking about the system at 5-on-5, bro. Not every aspect of the job. They were pretty good at 5-on-5 last year. Tell me how that's wrong. So as a coaching staff...again, I would have fired Sullivan 5 years ago...but as a coaching staff, it's reasonable for them to think that sweeping changes weren't needed at 5-on-5. It hasn't worked out and I think what they've done to fix it is obviously insufficient.

Bro.....I'M NOT DEFENDING SULLIVAN.

The point I was making is that I don't care if he, Tocchet, or Scotty f***ing Bowman talk to the media about what they are doing. What matters is what happens on the ice. Period.
Um, ok. My post was in response to your statement that you're not sure Sully can recover. He can't. He consistently continues to do dumb shit that he thinks makes him smarter than other coaches. The results say otherwise.

Call it hopium, but I figure they'd be calling up Aho or Kral to be the extra defenseman if Pickering were to not be playing. I'm just concerned they'll be pushing Pickering to RD to play with Graves, which I don't want to see. Keep Pickering on his natural side.

Calling him up makes no sense.
Right? It seems like he’s just starting to figure out the AHL game and now we’re going to throw him into them dumpster fire that is a Mike Sullivan team.

Aho would have been better. If its Letang out Aho would probably have been a net gain with his bad Letang is playing.

According to Getzoff, line rushes have Pickering as the 7th D and Pono as the 13th F. LOL

I might not be the smartest guy on the planet but something tells me there is a rather major flaw in the whole "we need to rebuild NOW" movement.

Seriously though just leave these guys alone if you're gonna just call 'em up to bench them or play them like 8 miserable minutes with Noel Acciari.

why on earth did crosby sign for 3 more years of this?
he's gotta have at least a tiny thought like that kicking around in his head at this point.

One saving grace I'll say about calling up Ponomarev and Pickering but not playing them: WBS doesn't have many games over the next 2 weeks, so they're not missing anything by not playing in the NHL. WBS has only 4 games this month on 11/16, 11/22, 11/29 and 11/30, so those two sitting for 2 weeks in the NHL is only going to cost them 2 AHL games.

Is it still stupid? Of course, it's mind numbingly stupid. But it's at least not causing them to miss a significant amount of AHL games, so I'd probably rather them practicing with the NHL team and not playing games over practicing with the AHL team and only playing in 2 games.

I think we need to start realizing that Crosby, Malkin and Letang are all completely on board with Sullivan and what he's doing to the team.

Mike Sullivan is seriously probably sitting around with his assistants and Dubas right now saying something like "well we have barely seen Nieto since he's been here and we wanna get a look at what this guy can do" and they are all solemnly nodding their heads like he just said something smart.

This whole Sullivan era is so weird, man. I know injuries kinda opened up spots for young guys when he first took over for Johnston, and he was familiar with a few of the guys from WBS, but the complete reversal of approach when it comes to coaching and playing younger guys and prospects is so odd.

That's not even touching on how wild the devotion shown to the guy is, completely regardless of how the team's looking, playing, or whether they're winning.

Just a bizarre era, and one I'll probably resent for years because of how it torpedoed the final decade of Sid and Geno.

All of this is worse than anything Therrien, Shero, Disco, JR, Hextall or even that clown Mike Johnston were responsible for IMO.

Those B2B don't provide the handwaving they once did. Thankful sure and always will be. But everything done since and especially the last like three seasons have been one bafflingly moronic decision followed up by the next.

Its pretty amazing how much good will Sullivan has destroyed. I didnt like Bylsma post 2012 either but he atleast delivered playoff teams despite them being decimated by injuries every year. Sullivan can just go f*** himself

I think the final few years of JR was absolutely ratf***ed. But this Sullivan shit is just... Insanity. I can't even begin to wrap my head around it. This ownership and FO have no real attachment to the guy, they weren't part of the B2Bs, but they seem to revere the guy even more than Mario and JR did.

Weirdo shit, man. Can't wait for this era to end, and it's a shame cuz they could've yanked up on the controls and pulled up outta this nosedive back in 2020, but they were content to let it go. It was always gonna end, and be ugly, but the rudderless management and spitefully stubborn coaching woes have left us with what's gonna be a solid 10 years of Sabres/Sens-esque incompetence by the time Sid retires and Sully's deal is up.
