Goalies are voodoo and all models for them suck. I don't trust any goalie model.

Then don't get mad about an article utilizing one.

1. No he wasn’t
2. Vasilevskiy having 1 dud year doesn’t magically erase his entire career performance before last year.

Come on, why are you arguing this point?

Dom's model weighs the most recent year very significantly.

To some non-goalie talk:

Skinner seems like this years version of Duchene. Would be a terrific target on a short term deal for the Penguins I think. He’d be a good guy to give a 1 year, $4 million type of deal to play with Crosby.

If he's an Ace on the PP, bring him in immediately.

I know this team has other issues, but they can easily make up points on the margins via the PP.

He said a source told him Jarry was on the block, and Chris Johnston said he definitely was. DK is the one way more likely to be making shit up.

I don't know much about Johsnton but I don't think I would trust Friedman or DK as far as I could shot put them at this point. It's fun to talk about though.

You wouldn't trust Friedman? He's the best insider in the game.

I'll amend my statement a bit. Sometimes in 32 thoughts or interviews, he tends to go a bit rogue and comment on what he thinks could happen or what makes sense to him to happen and people (including other insiders) far too often take that as gospel and true insider knowledge. So you're right in that is not necessarily on him, outside of being more careful with his words, and it wasn't fair of me to call that out.

Not that I'm turning my nose up to a solid 5 v5 guy, but we were actually ok in that realm last year. This team needs either a different strategy or different personnel on the PP.

Could it be both? Please…this team needs a good PP specialist coach…other teams
Spend money to have one…makes me think FSG might be cheaper than we were lead to believe…

I think it is almost definitely a moot point because Skinner likely doesn't sign here, but the big thing he'd provide is a legitimate rush producer and goal scoring threat for Crosby's line. I think he's more of a need on Malkin's line but Skinner is a LW and Bunting has that spot locked down. If you'd run with:

Bunting-Crosby-Rakell
Skinner-Malkin-Rust

I think that would be the best setup of the top-6. But they won't do that, so it's a moot point.

He may fix the PP issues as in he's willing to shoot, but he's a lefty that you'd be playing on the right half wall. If he's just a shoot-first guy that shoots non-stop, it could help it, but he's mostly going to be of help at 5v5.

Eh his 8 power play goals last season would've only trailed Sid I believe. 8 the year before only would've been 5th. Still better than what Rust is gonna give you.

I'd take a one-year flyer on Skinner. Something around the $3mil mark. Buffalo is right to do the buy out. He's a good player but he's not a $9mil player.

I think the guarantees of "Skinner never makes the playoffs" and "Perry always loses in the cup finals" would contradict each other and cause the heat death of the universe

Kinda like a "divide by zero" error on the universe.
I'd argue getting Skinner gets the Ron Hainsey boost as well lol. Once that dam breaks, Skinner's going to be pulling moves like Hainsey was in the final

What if Perry gets injured in the last conference final game and can’t play in the finals
