I was digging through twitter to see if I could find any updates on Carter, and it seems like people think Pettersson has been very good in camp and seems to fit really well with Petry. That's good to see.

I've also seen the comment that literally everyone on the team looks fast and hte team is playing with an insane pace. That's also really reassuring.

It seems like there is a good amount of intensity this year in particular. I think it comes from the top down.

And yeah my friend who attended the last two days of scrimmages said the Pete & Pete paring looks excellent. And that Petts looks like maybe he's sorta taking up where he left off in the playoffs. Which would be huge. I don't know if I considered how much a boon Petry could be to his defensive partner on top of everything else this year but that's an exciting thought.

The Pens will sign Boyle to replace Carter as Blueger must never be allowed to get the 3C spot.
Don't even joke.

Seriously though:

Jake-Sid-Rakell
Heinen-Malkin-Rust
Zucker-Bleuger-Kapanen
Zohorna-Poehling-McGinn

and +$3mil in space would be a good way to start the year especially if it means saving Smith, POJ, Big Z, Poehling, Ruddy, and Freidman from waivers/WBS for the moment.

I've said in the past that I've always thought that a Pettersson-Ristolainen type of pair would excel as a 2nd pair, and I think Pettersson-Petry is similar to that. I think the ideal partner for Pettersson is a big and physical OFD, someone like Ristolainen, Phaneuf or someone like that. Petry isn't exactly that, but he's pretty damn close.

Don't even joke.

If Carter is injured, they're just going to slide Poehling into the 3C spot. Don't see why they'd mess with the 4th line in that case, Sullivan clearly likes duos.

I wonder if Carter left early to go watch his daughters first softball game? I’m not even joking he re-storied pics of her posted by his wife on his instagram story.

It looks excellent in scrimmage, against ECHL players.

HFPens in shambles

I could easily see Puustinen bumping Zucker or Heinen out of the top-6 by the end of the year. His skillset seems to be one that should really mesh well with Crosby, he gives me some Sheary vibes from what I've read about him. He probably won't be top-6 quality, at least not initially, but you can really load up your 2nd line with Rakell-Malkin-Rust if you have a winger like Puustinen on Crosby's RW.
