Before it was anybody but Sully, then it was no retreads, now people are mad because they dont recognize the name
And i think people forget that until recently, the only real development for US players was in the new england area and minnesota, so of course lots of US born people in hockey are going to be from that area.
He's been an assistant in the NHL for 5 years and a head coach in the USHL for 2.Surprised he was deemed ready to be a head coach (now...or at all).
Hope it works out. But not super pumped about it.
Development guru? Not sure I agree with that (I'm assuming, blind) assessment...
Whatever, hope it works out and we go 82-0.
Resumes and results can be brought about by virtually any means. Process matters more. That's where I'm concerned. He's been an assistant in the NHL for 5 years and a head coach in the USHL for 2.
Probably would have been nice if he could have squeezed some AHL head coaching experience in there but it's not the worst resume.

Those are frontrunners who love almost everything the team does.Lol
Before the team announced it, this guy wasn’t even considered. Now, HFBoard likes the hire of this chooch, despite his limited nhl experience. Never-mind the fact that most posters never knew this guy existed until today.
No one is saying they're "wrong". Though, Leonard is an interesting case study.I mean, numerous young NHLers like Will Smith and Ryan Leonard spoke glowingly about the work he did with them as the head coach for the US NTDP. Hard to say they're wrong with how promising they look as prospects.
This is incredible
I don't know how to explain it properly but he looks like a Russian dude cosplaying a British dude.

No young player is going to come out and say what rotten situation they were in in this day and age anyhow...(well, except a ton of young players on the Rangers haha)
I'm not on the ice with him, so I can't be sure. Just going by what I know, I'm just a little surprised by the move...and a little surprised that he was auto-assigned "development guru"...
“He showed me what real hockey is, honestly,” said Ryan Leonard, a center who could go anywhere from No. 6-10 on Wednesday. “What it takes to become a professional athlete, how to make a living at it. He was awesome. I can’t say enough good things about him.”
“He taught me a lot about my game, where I can fit into a lineup,” said Oliver Moore, a center who was ranked eighth among North American skaters by Central Scouting. “He gave me a lot of confidence and just trusted in me. He was a strong voice in our room, we all listened to him when he talked and soaked up all the information he gave us. For me personally, it was the hockey IQ aspect of the game he helped me with most.”
“He really helped my all-around game and even off the ice too,” said Will Smith, a center who could go as high as No. 4 on Wednesday. “If I ever needed to talk about anything he was there. He’s awesome as a coach and awesome as a person, so it’s pretty cool seeing him get that job with the Rangers.”
Looks like Moe Howard and the Two Fat Ladies (of British cooking show fame) had a menage a trois and popped out a kid.
I posted a video where he explains it and why he does not have that accent, you wankbucket.Turns out Muse may not be much of a Massachusetts guy after all. @Honour Over Glory won't know how to react.
While he is a native of Canton, Mass., Muse and his family roamed around the country, making stops in Northern California and Alabama. The Deep South, of all places, is where he first played organized hockey on the ice as a kid.

In Dan Muse, Penguins pick coach with uncommon resume, knack for development
Dan Muse has won in Pittsburgh before. In this case, “before” was April 13, 2013, when the Frozen Four was staged here. As an assistant coach, Muse helped Yale win the first NCAA title in program history and was celebrating with players as well as fellow staffers on the icetriblive.com
But then again a lad would never tell the truth because he could be seen as problematic especially in hockey circles and culture. The praise that these guys gave Muse for their work with him doesn't suggest that, though.
I can't comment on the reality because I wasn't in those rooms, but the quotes given don't suggest that he was putting players in rotten situations.
I would be cool with them hiring Kim Weiss as a third Assistant.
lol…was this guy’s favorite movie “A Hard Day’s Night?”
Lol
