Penguins have been eliminated from playoff contention for the 3rd straight season! 😬

How is a team that's holding onto Crosby, Malkin, Karlsson and Letang "rebuilding" lmao more like trying to compete and failing.

Have you literally paid attention to any of their moves in the last 15 months? They're a rebuilding team.

Crosby and Malkin haven't been traded because they have full NMCs and don't want to be traded. Letang hasn't been traded because he has an atrocious, unmovable deal. Karlsson is most likely being traded this off-season after his bonus is paid.

... @Zirakzigil will not approve of this thread...first, that penguin island gets hit with Tariffs and now the Pens are eliminated...it's been a hard week to be a Penguin...

Why would they be?
That's how they get gifted generational players. It's the only thing that saves the franchise.

Lemieux and Crosby both rescued the Pens from bankruptcy. Twice in Lemieux case

Yay!

Edit: I’m being somewhat sarcastic here. Weird thread title.

Roster sucks. They should trade Rakell and Karlsson in the off-season if the price is right and start the rebuild ASAP. I believe next year will be Malkin’s last season, who knows about Letang, might be his last too. Get the youngsters more ice time to see what they can become.
Honestly don’t see why they acquired EK65 in the first place, to be honest.

the capitals one offseason turnaround is going to have a lot of teams believing its possible

that being said they have 18 players signed for next season and have 24.5 million in cap. If crosby and malkin stay i expect them to make reckless moves in the offseason to give their franchise players an attempt at a better sendoff

Rebuilding lol with an crusty old coach and trash lineup with no end in sight.

Oh wow, a team that started a rebuild a year ago still has a way to go in their rebuild. What a shock!

It's hilarious fans are taking shots at the Penguins in here as if Penguins fans think this team should be good or will be good anytime soon. Most Penguins fans don't think this team will be good again until like 2029 at the earliest.

Breaking news: rebuilding team misses the playoffs

Kind of odd to try and pretend this is a "rebuilding team."

The top eight scorers on the Penguins are all older than 30. The top eight!

I highly doubt theres another team in the league that has their top eight scorers over 30.

There may not be another team in the league that has eight guys over 30, period. Calling this a "rebuilding" team when it's stuffed with aging veterans is a strange take.

Go look at the moves the Penguins have made in the last 15 months and try to argue that's not a "rebuilding team".

They're still old as shit because they're 1 year into what projects to be a 5+ year rebuild. Their top-8 scorers are all over 30 because they haven't had anyone worth a damn in their prospect pool before McGroarty and Koivunen came along recently.

Has Dubas stated they are rebuilding?
